Merry Christmas everyone :) I'm hoping to get a check airman job in the following year and am looking to expand my aviation library...was wondering if anyone had some recommendation on the best reading material out there on subjects such as performance, aerodynamics, turbine aircraft systems, etc. Just wondering if there are any titles out there I haven't run across that would be a good addition to my book shelves...

The ATP PTS would be a good place to start; all the performance standards are listed there. I don't know if you are going to be a Line Check or PC Airman. I think that all the tech pubs you listed are not the books to look into to evaluate, you are not an instructor, you are checking their ability to do their job and the tech part of it is a small part. My choices would the airplane COM, the AOM, profiles, SOP and the company CRM workings. A study into human factors on why crewmembers fail in performance of their duties would be a good read. It the end you will determine if this pilot is safe to perform as a crewmembers at your airline, flying and understanding the airplane is only part of it. I personally feel that a Line Check gives better picture of crew’s performance than a PC.
