I am looking for an ATP written test study guide. Is Gleim one of the best, and if not, does anyone have a recommendation? Also, where is the best place to pick up a copy or order one? Barnes & Noble do not currently have any in their wearhouse (or so I have been informed).
they get rid of like 600 questions before you take the test and you have all day to go over the other questions before you take the exam
What I did... was study the gleim portion of the ATP written test and I went over all of the SMALL chapters dont do the performance/weight balance... the complicated questions that make you look up graphs and stuff like that....
After I did that and I had all of the small chapters down..went to ATP to take the written test..they give you the whole day to go over all of THEIR questions.... of course did the small chapters 1st to make sure I knew all of the questions..got done with those in an hour and had the rest of the day (7 hours) to go ov er 3 chapters that had the questions with you looking in graphs and crap
End up getting a 95% on it. It was pretty easy. I recommend doing that..knowing all of the smaller chapters before you sign up for the test at ATP so your not wasting the whole day of going over those smaller chapters.
If you just want a high score simply get the gleim, go through the book and highlight all the correct answers. Then spend a week or two learning them. When you take the test the correct answers will jump out at you. You don't even have to learn the questions just know the correct answers. Did this on all my tests private through comm and my lowest score on any test was 95%. Easiest way to get the test done then you can get a good training book to actually learn the material there are better ones than gleim for actual learning (Every thing for the professional pilot comes to mind).
What are considered good and bad scores on the ATP written? I know that passing is passing, but as far as interviews go and such.
Say you get right smack dab in the middle of passing, an 85% or so. Is this going to hurt you (because it is not high) or help you (because you've passed it and have it done)?
Although everybody targets a high 90s or 100, whats the minimum score that everyone thinks is "acceptable"?
Thanks guys, kind of curious as to how all this works compared with the previous writtens where the only one that looks at it is your examiner.
I believe Gleim is the way to go, especially if you are looking for the highest score. Just memorize it already! You'll actually learn it elsewhere. Just get the score, and go from there.
Don't even bother with the books! It's a waste of $19...
Ask your buds in the squadron about Sheppardair.com... (It's well known down in my training wing) go there and read about their gig.. you basically download a REDUCED database (when I took it a year ago, I had to study 647 questions...) out of a possible 1500 or so test bank.
I think it;s $75... It's laser guided.. My proof? I scored perfect... (not that you have to though... as long as you pass, you'll get your ticket!)
It's a couple of guys out of witchita I think... I plan on using them for the FEw as well! Good luck
