I was wondering what recommendations seasoned regional FO's or CA's can give new hires about training? I would like to do my best when I arrive and will study limitations etc. before I get there. Any advice on readings-(published or online)?

I am all ears...

Where are you getting the info (limitations) you will be studying?

I'd be careful trying to get too far ahead before you go to class. The info you'll need to learn (or that they will want you to learn) can change regularly within a company vary widely from one regional to another. Memorizing a bunch of stuff that doesn't apply or you don't need to know will do nothing but make your training harder. That being said, 121 regs (wx, alternates, minimums, etc.) could be something to look at, but don't kill yourself.

You will get the info you need when you go through training. Worry more about getting the rest of your life in order before going to class so you can focus on the training. Don't try to cram.

Perhaps the most important advice: RELAX. Study no more than is necessary. Understand what I'm saying -- don't be a slacker, just don't stress needlessly. If you're throwing up on the morning of your checkride (like my roommate in initial), you're stressing too much!

Thanks. They told me I would get some materials before hand and I guess thats what I will go over. I guess brushing up on 121 stuff would be wise as well.

Mind sharing who you were hired by?
