Hi All,

I am trying to help my Aussie friend find a U.S training center capable of issuing a 1900 initial type rating. He is currently flying the plane and has several thousand hours in type. He hasthe type on his Australian license already but is trying to get the type on his U.S. license.

Is there anyone aware of any alternatives to the standard 2 week $10,000 Flight Safety or Simuflite scenarios? All he really needs is a checkride from a D.E I suppose.

SATCO's sim is on the south side of Denver, in the Tech Center area of Englewood, buried in an industrial park.

Aims' sim is on the north side of Denver, in Greeley, sprouting like Jack's beanstalk from the middle of their campus.

I've flown both sims more times than I care to remember. Reliability in both boxes was flawless, fidelity in pitch was questionable but flyable.

He will probably have to be cleared by TSA to do training in the US. Due to the fact the airplanes max gross is over 12,500. The last I knew a non-US citizen cannot be trained in an A/C over 12,500 without background clearance. Correct me if I am wrong. Try Eagle jet or Alpine Air but may cost 10,000-15,000.

P.S. I forgot about Satco in Denver. Best 1900 sim I ever flown...

If he's already got the type rating on his Australian cert, it MIGHT be possible to check in with a FSDO and get them to issue the American version based on a foreign cert. I know this can be done with private, instrument rating, and commercial certs, but I'm not totally sure about type ratings. It could be worth checking into though because all it would cost your friend is about an hour of his time.

His ICAO certificate when obtaining a US certificate, should transfer the rating without additional training or a checkride.
