You always have to be carefull when accepting a new aviation position, but I think you have to be particularly carefull with many of these Boeing jobs. A fellow I know left The Limited Stores after 15 years to take what appeared to me a lucrative BBJ job and was on the street in a year.

You know, all the BBJ jobs in the world seem to have the same string. Sounds great, looks great, but in fact they are less than great jobs. Looks like just about any quality G1V or GV job would be better than the BBJ jobs I know of. Maybe there is someone out there with a diffferent story and if so please convince me that this is not the case.

I think a great GV job is most corporate pilots dream job....the G is just a much more capable aircraft that a BBJ...

anyone hiring???

:) ..;)

Yes the Gv is in incredible aircraft. Having said that any late model corporate Boeing will run circles around any GV/G1V when it comes to dependability. No comparrison. We have both in our flight department and when the chips are down the Boeing will always be ready. I see you are in the Global. Wow that that is a nice airplane, but it can sure be a problem at times regarding factory support. We have one of those also and it can be somewhat of a problem child at times. Lets just say that they are all great and we are lucky to flying any of them. But if you were given a GV/G1V, Global, or a BBJ, which do you think would consistantly be ready for dispatch with world wide suppport 24/7. If your in either a Gulfstream or a Global, you better be somewhere where thay have overnight FedEx or similar delivery service.

oh sure, a decent job flying any of the above is pretty good..no doubt.

You have all 3? -- no secret where you work!!

see ya in Nice this summer??

March dispatch reliability for the BBJ is 99.9%

Twelve Month dispatch reliability for the G-IV is 99.84%

Twelve month dispatch reliability for the GV is 99.80%

Bombardier does not release Global Express dispatch reliability information.

Boeing AOG is 24 hours. Gulfstream AOG is immediate with a G100 Airborne Product Support parts aircraft on standby 24/7/365.

Gulfstream offers 10 factory support facilities domestically and 9 international regional support centers. Additionally, Gulfstream offers no charge international flight following for your specific route of flght if so requested.

There's no question that the Boeing is a good airplane. The mission profiles are just different. The Boeing is a mid-thirties Mach 0.78-M 0.80 airplane and the GV runs around at FL410-FL510 at a normal cruise speed of Mach 0.85.

I met Mike Hewett, BBJ chief test pilot, during BBJ development. Good guy and probably the BBJ's biggest cheerleader. If you want to get him really animated - ask him about rudder hardovers and cross-over AOA!
