I am looking into banner towing in Myrtle Beach this summer and have been talking to Sky Signs. Just wondering if anyone has any information on this company. History, safety record, good or bad, just trying to get some info. I have the time requirements met, know what they pay and how much the training cost, just looking for any additional info that anyone may have.

Thanks

Sky Signs

I worked for Sky Signs for two seasons and when I was there the maintenance was excellent. They have their share of problems, though mostly pilot induced. Pay is $10-12/hr, expect anywhere from 30-50 hrs a week, weather permitting. Training was, i think, 1500, but don't quote me. The most fun i've had yet. Can't beat the Redneck Riviera. Call them quick b/c they're done hiring in April/early May. Best bet is to go there and talk to them, works every time!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Looks very likely that I have a position with them, Im supposed to find out tomorrow. From what you said it should be a great place to work. Im looking forward to it!

You're not a Conway Bomber, are you?

Redneck Riviera is the best description of that place I have ever heard! I have family there, I can't wait to tell them that one... It is SO true :)

No, not a conway firebomber, worked with some that were. They were always good for a laugh.

1500$ for banner tow training????

Let me guess, that covers the cost of the "endorsement".

...dont set foot in the Myr FBO ever if you can help it.

Actually, the 1500 pays for the cost of 25 hrs. instruction that is required by their insurance.

25 hours!!!!!

Did they tell you what all you do in 25 hours?

In 2-4 passes you will know whether or not you going to be able to do it.

I think the place in Miami was also trying to BS $2000 out of people to.

My buddy who has a business only requires 50 hours tailwheel for his insurance, and just a sign off for the towing.

I've had "a few" drinks there in 1996-1997

Believe it or not, my insurance company required 100 hrs dual towing before I was insured.

Still didnt cost me 1$ though.

Smells like PFT...
