Hi,

I am planning to apply for the airlines or any flying operation after a 2 year absence. I have a few concerns regarding my chances of obtaining an interview/a flying job. I am hoping if someone could answer my questions?

1. I have a bankruptcy 4 years ago and my current credit is pretty shot due to a divorce. I have no work to pay off my debts or even apply for a loan to get my CFIs. My question is will the regional airlines frown upon this and reject my chances of getting called for an interview?

2. Do they still require the 100 hours of flight time within 6 months? I do not have my CFI and II, any time building operations in the Riverside or Los Angeles County?

3. Which flying operation will waive these requirements provided that I am instrument current?

4. Are there weight and height requirements being enforced?

Thanks!

You're a broke divorced pilot? Your gonna fit right in with other regional guys. I don't think anyone will care about your credit. I would try to go to the interview current though.

Hight and Weight enforcement? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....

Yes you have to be able to see over the glare shield and be able to fully depress the rudder pedals both ways. Unless you're under 5 feets you will be able to accomplish both. You can be as round as you like though, no limit on waist size.

This time, APC will come to you...

They will not run credit checks prior to a interview. On the appliaction, they may ask about BK...if so you should explain in the remarks that this was due to a divorce. I would think they would give an opportunity to explain that if you are otherwise qualified. If you get an interview, and they have not already asked, be sure you address that situation so they don't just reject you automatically after they run credit scores.

SKW does not require it, but it will be considered. In the current competitive climate you should go get at least a few hours. (10-20?).

3. Which flying operation will waive these requirements provided that I am instrument current?

Read their web sites. But I doubt they will bother waiving their requirements while so many pilots are looking for work.

4. Are there weight and height requirements being enforced?

No there are no official standards, but both SKW and AMR have at least an unofficial preference for fit pilots. This went completely out the window when they were desperate in 2006-2007, but they can be picky now. Running is a good activity for those on a budget.

Hmm lets see here...

When I left my last regional I was about 5'10" 310lbs wearing size 42 pants.....and filling those out like a 17 year girl's gym tights.

I think you'll be fine.
