In the UAE the punishment for terrorism is a swift public decapation.

And this would deter a suicide bomber how? I would think that the bad guys could easily find disenfranchised, gullible recruits amongst the third country national labor camps. Be careful over there, and congrats on your new arrangement. Hope it lasts.

Well guys after a month in the Mid East flying in Dubai I am home for a month. I will soon be going back this time working for two months on before coming back to the states for one month off.

I am the guy that based up the NetJets job to go and fly fractionals, just thought I would share a little bit of what my life has been like.
My first week there I flew very little, went out shopping for a place to live, I was told that I had a 30K US allowance for housing and utilities, housing is very expensive there, and the place that I really liked which is in downtown Dubai, right on the Gulf costed about 45K with utilities, boss said no problems, all of the bills are being sent to him. The other 3 weeks out there I was on the road for 14 days. Spent a week in Europe, slept in Paris, London, and Barcelona. Came back to Dubai for a few days, then went to Africa for three days, back to Dubai, then spent four days in Hong Kong. Every day that I was gone I was given 100 dollars US in per-Diem. At the end of the month of flying I stopped in to pick up my pay check, however I guess that thay prefer doing things in cash out there so I was handed an envelope with 12,500 dollars in it and a first class ticket back home. I was also given the choice of taking my 12,500 for my month off either then or when I get back, and because of my lack of being prepared to be paid in cash I did not want to walk out of the office with 25K so I will be paid for my month off when I get back to work.

Now for my impressions, the boss and the owner
are fantastic guys, however when you are there you are somewhat always on call, they do give you two hard days off a week, however with some of our trips going longer then a week they may give them to you on the road, the trips are great, it is like I am always on a vacation, other pilots are greats, flight attendents are gorgeous and friendly, and everyone likes to party on the road. The night life in Dubai is amazing, in the month I have been out there I have always found something to do, people are friendly and the women out there are beautiful beyond all words, and they are very, very fond of Americans. With the money I make I live very, very, very well out there. The money that I am making is not taxed till I reach 87,500 after that I will need to figure out what to do with the money. I will be getting typed on the Legacy in about 8 more months, and my pay will be raised to 18,500 per month.

Right now I am very, very happy with my decision to pass on NetJets and come to the mid east, and I would reccommend this job to anyone young, single, and looking for an adventure while making themselves wealthy. Any questions you have I would be happy to answer.

Like I said, pure BS from the start of his first thread, I doubt he even was offered a job at Netjets to turn down.

For one, No one over there gives you cash, when I worked over there, I had all of my money wire transfered each month into my us account, or you can have it transfered into any account, they did not care, but cash was never offered as a pay choice, and no one that I know over there gets their pay by cash either.

Also, the boss saying send me all of your utility bills? NO WAY, total BS

The biggest BS is his new salary of $18,500 per month, Not that many pilots in the u.s. make that much, let alone over there and he is not even typed in the Legacy, I don't know of any Legacy pilots anywhere in the world making that much or even close to that much to fly a Legacy, in fact, the chief pilot for the company that I use to work for was only paid $13000 per month which is considered very good since it is not taxed and he had to live there.

So, guys this guy is a BSer, don't understand what his motive is, but, he sure is full of it!!!

...not even typed in the Legacy, I don't know of any Legacy pilots anywhere in the world making that much or even close to that much to fly a Legacy...

Be careful using the "L" word... it's like the Bat signal for you-know-who!

Sounds like some of you NJA guys are jealous? :)

Not at all; he'd have been junior to me at NJA, so it doesn't make a difference to me either way. ;)

He claimed he was going to start as a PIC in a CL604 and now he claims to fly a Legacy. So, what's the real story?

Having been to Dubai, I question a lot of his statements.

There isn't an apartment in town that runs 45K US. That would translate to over 130,000 Dirahm a month, and that's totally unrealistic. I mean hell unless he's living in the Burj Al Arab. Everything over there price wise is very comparable to the US.

Yes there is a LOT of female talent running around, there is also a HUGE prostitution underground. One of the bars there I may or may not have been to, Longs Bar, is probably 50% hookers. All of them GORGEOUS. Still a great bar.

Another great bar to visit there, Double Deckers. And if you can find it, go eat dinner at Spice Island. If I could remember what hotel it is in, I'd tell you.

Spice Island is at the Marriot Renaissance, you are right, it is good, but at the JW Marriot down the street, they have 8 restaurants, and they have 2 restaurants that totaly top out Spice Island, one is called Bamboo Lagoon, real good especially if you love sushi as I do, the other one is called Market Place, it is more like Spice Island, though the price at spice island is a little lower, but not by much, and both of those are all you can eat like spice island, at the JW Marriot they go one further for Friday Brunch, you pay one low price, and can walk between the 3 all you can eat places, it is great!!

Yes you are right about the other thing, there is no way he is paying $45K for an apartment unless like you said he had a room at the burj

Yeah! The Marriot!

Walk out the door around the corner (same building) to the bar!

Bartender knows a million bar tricks!

The Hilton has a great executive lounge open all day with really good finger foods and free booze.

But its good to be home.

My XOjet buddy is getting ready to go to their international gig.

Good luck! Take care, Semore
