5 day shut down 1998?
I remember flying into YIP in the fall of 1998. There was no traffic at DTW, the controller said without the NWA flights, we could have anything we wanted, that is why I thought there had been a shutdown. As far as talking, that is a good thing, a contract that ensures the survival of the airline is also an important thing. I look at JB and Allegiant as airline and pilot groups that have worked together for both of their benefits. In the end the consumer of airline tickets will determine airline survival, not management, not the gov't and not unions.Nobody stopped working. They just stopped helping so much. If it took years to recover, all the more reason for companies to talk to the pilots, rationally, before it goes that far.
