B737 type

I don't know of either, but I'd bet that you're doing it to get a Southwest interview. With that in mind, I'd suggest that you choose the place that might have Southwest connections.

Hope that helps a little. Good luck with your choice.

PS-I realize that posting in all caps is bad "netiquette" because it signifies shouting. Using regular typing is actually easier to read than all caps.

Geeeeez Lueeeeez!
I'm about to spend 7 grand and you guys are more concerned about my Screaming on the computer.
You've got to be kidding.
All I'm asking for is any good or bad info on either of these two companies.
And I'm not doing this in order to interview with SWA, but if you can get me on the LIST I'll buy everybody a round of something.
Thanx.

Don't know anything about the Denver thing, but I do know that the Higher Power in DFW is virtually a conveyer belt to the folks at LUV. Doesn't hurt that it's in the same town. I did a sim prep for an interview with another company through Higher Power and was pleased with the product. Sorry I can't offer more info. good luck!

Southwest B737 Pipeline

Thanks for just typing. It really is easier to read.

I understand that K & S Aviation in Phoenix is a good place at which to train for the 737. I hear that it is a friendly Mom & Pop operation, but the owner is a Southwest captain and uses Southwest line procedures. I also understand that he has all the gouge as well. I know K & S has a website. Maybe you can use it with your WIA.

Hope that helps some more. Good luck with your training.

Thanx for the input. Since I'm using WIA funds I don't get the luxury of having but the two choices listed earlier. The company in DFW seems to be the better choice because of training to 121 standards. FTI just appears to want to sell you a rating.
I have no 121 experience and want to be able to show any employer more knowledge than that of just a type ride.

This typing stuff is just like instrument flying, the more you do the better you get at it.

Thanx again.

Go to HPA

Check out this post.

HPA is a no brainer. Like the Nike commercial from the early 90s: JUST DO IT!

HPA is a great outfit...great people, training, and a lot of fun. Carson Jefferies is a gifted instructor. Ask Bobbie to put you in the 700-300 class since they still have 200 classes.

SWA has tight ties with Higher Power. I'm not trying to slam FTI in Denver, as I know nothing about them. However, my experience at HPA was outstanding and I highly recommend the company. :)

Best wishes,

Yahtz

ALTHOUGH GENERALLY NOT A RECOMMENDED TECHNIQUE, "SHOUTING" IS THE DOD STANDARD WHEN SENDING MESSAGES.

FOR ANY OF YOU FUTURE MILITARY FOLKS, HERE'S ONE MORE PRACTICE MESSAGE. ;)

HE GOT THE INFO HE REQUESTED AND APPEARS TO BE WELL ON HIS WAY TO A 737 TYPE.

Best Wishes Slick,

Yahtz

P.S. Alimaui, I do concede the DoD method is harder to read.

You guys have been a great help.
It looks as if HPA is the place to go.
Unless there is some critical change to take place, I think I'm going to be on my way in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to everyone for all of your help.

Enough with the Navy messages already - I haven't had enough coffee to read all the crammed-together Navy abbreviations.

Many buddies of mine as well as myself did my type at Higher Power in the 200. Some students in my class had to go to Houston for the sims in the -300 due to overflow , but it is not always that way. Depends on how tightly SWA's -300 sims are utilized and which slots (late at night) are open. Either way HPA is awesome! I am still using their instructional tools as well as several others to try to remember what a 737 cockpit looks like by the time I can swim out of the pool to the SWA classroom. Had a buddy who also went out to Phoenix for the K & S type. Had good things to say about that also. He got one flight actual in the 737 where at HPA we do it all in sims because of prior "A" (PIC) time. Either way I think you'll have a good experience. Unless you've flown a Boeing before use all the self study time they estimate before class and then some - systems were much different from P-3 or C-130 for me and my buds...
Then again, "I'm not a smart man Jenny."

Hope that helps-
Les

"Crew Pilot Training" in Houston, they use Continental A/L training facilities. I believe the owner, Ray Brendle started "Higher Power" then sold it and started CPT. the contact e-mail is:

HPA

Hi,

People have posted a lot of information on this site about HPA for you to search. There may be a better school, but you can't go wrong with HPA. If you're interested in SWA, the People Dept. folks will go there to brief on the latest news on Wednesdays. I attended the course almost a year ago and enjoyed it. Best wishes.

I will give HPA two big thumbs up. It is an outstanding operation, and if you go there you will be pleased.

The instructors are excellent, Carson and all the others (Carson and I flew together many times in the A.F. -- he's a retired KC-10 FE).

Good luck, and have fun, whereever you go.

Aeroservice

Aeroservice near MIA (old EAL stomping grounds) used to have a 73 equalizer...ahem...I mean simulator (Level C I think) in the SWA configuration. Rapid completion if you have prior experience in sims or things with stator vanes. Types in the Guppy are a breeze if you are fluent in sim and don't have ham hands. Always always always believe you are in the actual airplane and avoid at all costs the following statement throughout your training: "Is that malfunction just the sim or is that real." It's somewhat akin to a fart in church...tends to detract from the "ambience." Good Luck. Out.

HPA

I teach at HPA. Great people, great course high pass rates. The classes are split between the -200 and -300 sims. We do all the sim training at DFW. We also are going to have access to a additional 737-200 and a 737-200 FTD soon. You also get some free lunches too.
