Alright, this may be kind of dumb, but how do u guys get B6 out of Jetblue? I have been trying to figure it out, but can. Can I get some help?

B6 is the airline code for Jet Blue

A few examples
B6 Jetblue Airways Corp.

AA American Airlines, American Eagle and code sharing carriers

HP America West Airlines, America West Express and code sharing carriers

DL Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection and code sharing carriers

WN Southwest Airlines

F9 Frontier Airlines and code sharing carriers

FL AirTran Airways and AirTran Airlines

EI Aer Lingus Limited and code sharing carriers

Thanks for all of the codes.

Now, does anyone have the "answer" to the question? I don't.

Regards,

Juan

Airline codes are assigned by ICAO. Whenever possible they try to assign a code which somehow relates to the company. At times its not possible, so ICAO will just assign a two character alpha-numeric code, thus JetBlue got B6 because JB was already assigned to Helijet Airways.

The original Frontier Airlines had FL as its code. When they went out of business the code lay dormant for a while, then was assigned to Air Tran. Now, the new Frontier is F9.

No pretends it makes any sense.
