B6 Hotel?

Heard JetBlue was opening a hotel in MCO to service their pilots going to training. Could they be opening one in NYC for all the poor E-190 drives. (Or are most of them delivering pizza's to keep up?)

BTW... heard from an FO that VP of flight ops had a meeting with the Pro-Stan (Value?) comittee. about unions. Seems he's sweating a card call...opinions, rumors, or speculation?

The hotel idea is genius. It should pay for itself w/in 2 years (so I heard). Of course, I think we got a super-sweet deal on the land (free?) from Orlando/Florida. Perhaps we should have a naming contest (I vote for Club Hedonism III) in the near future.

I heard the same rumor about the U thing. I heard that DB wanted an entity with more jurisdiction than the Values Comm (not much teeth) to discuss pressing issues like pay/benes/etc. Whether something is done about them (atrocious -190 pay) once we are back in black remains to be seen. But it could also be reaction to the IAM efforts with the ground personnel.

Welp, I guess this just about confirms that B6 has big plans for MCO. 300 rooms is for more than just training, and I'm sure many rooms will be shared by flt crews on layover. I've heard they are bidding on the former DL gates, so I would expect some sort of announcement this summer that will be similar to what happened at BOS.

B6 is just tired of contracting with several local hotels to house new hire pilots/flight attendants, mechs, techs, and so on. It is actually more cost efficient to house them in a company hotel than the Fairfield Inn, etc.

That is flamebait. I fly with so many former ALPA who have a "ALPA, f--- them" attitude, I would be surprised that a card call would have any traction. An internal union on the other hand may, but it would take some serious organizing, and who's gonna do that?

I hope they explain the quarters sufficiently to break apart the actual operational performance from the gains/proceeds of selling the 5 A320s.

To the bashers -my second month on the line I had all weekends off, I upgrade in 13 months (if I take it) - yeah, life sucks. How much does CAL pay first year? Nothing against them - I have good friends there.

Ran into a several 190 crews RIC and they are pissed beyond belief about pay. Many have apps out for other gigs. Sounds like a union would come from the 190.

24 million sounds like big waste of cash to me, that would buy a lot of hotel rooms. Not to mention the ongoing upkeep/maintenance, lease and utilities. Stick to the airline biz.

To pay for it over 2 years, you'd have to expect a market rate of about $140/night and 100% occupancy. I don't know what B6 pays for contract rates, but most airlines don't pay anywhere near that.

I would agree with them. ALPA national has lost the ball on what's important.

But, B6 guys should not dismiss the threat of organizing outright. Just look at the back-peddling management is doing because of the IAM. How many pieces of "flair" do you have?

Besides, things seem to be improving over there at B6 revenue wise. But how long do you think that the management team will last if they have new "hiccup" along the way.

Maybe Frank Lorenzo would like to get another shot at the airlines? Or maybe Rakees Gangwal?

Without a strong union political presence in DC...anything is possible. Just review the post about Open Skies. Would Neeleman be able to compete aginst a "Ultra-Low Cost" carrier like Ryan... Probably not

I am a new 190 guy and I am fine with the pay. Its based on a quick upgrade and so far that is on track. Plus--these guys have integrety and are actual leaders. I am really enjoying the JB experience. If they up the pay, great! Otherwise, they were up front with me and thats what counts. This is coming from a guy that was on b scale start up pay at NWA--now that was an insult. Now that I have given you info straight from the horses mouth, continue your hate fest with B-6.

Pools and volleyball, Plasma's in each room. Common area's, paper trainers for the folks in training. JetBlue already has outside business' that want to set up next to the hotel.... I've heard several fast food joints mentioned. Its going to be its own little village. And yes... Hedonism III should be the name of the place.
