It has been reported that Air Willy has been awarded the contract to run many of the NWA outstations in the upper midwest. SUX, CID, MBS, TVC, to name just a few.

These stations were previously staffed by NWA CSA's and Ramp agents. With the concessionary contract approved by their union, NWA was allowed to farm out those outstations that do not meet a certain number of daily operations.

Yet another kick in the nuts for Mesaba, whom was also bidding on handling the ground services at many stations.

NWA has an additional $400 million ask, which, is unknown at this point. If NWA were to decide to forego this because it will have achieved a deal with the F/A's, mesaba may be sticking around in its current form.

Didn't AWAC reported that it wouldn't be interested in the ground handling if they didn't win any flying? Or are you guys RED HAIRED STEP CHILDREN too. If you are, you know what? I'm honored to be amongst you

Where was this being reported? NWA hasn't disclosed who has won any of their contracts yet. They most likely won't disclose this information until all labor contracts have been resolved.

Not really sure about that. I'll belive it when I see a red-tail airplane with AWAC next to the entry door...

..................................

show me a link, i am not going to believe that crap til i see a real link.....its been reported....where...in the paper> maybe in tomorrows news if i see it, thats huge news that would be all over the press......liz at thwe star and sickle would have reported it i am sure.

I could easily say "A senior captain told me," but I feel that phrase is as overused as the ever-so-popular 'Player To Be Named Later.'

Ms. Fedor could care less about this story. It won't run in the green diaper.

No links avail. No press release out of the AWAC website. damn

Looks like Napoleon will just have to give you some tots at a later time, and just revive this link when it is more apparent.

It came out in a company email from our CFO.

I would imagine that a press release will come out later to back it up.

Oh please, how could AWAC possibly do it for less?

GoJo, I don't know if it even matters if they can do it for less than Mesaba. I think that WMU is on the right path in thinking that NWA is done with Mesaba.

Even more reason, I feel, that the Union of Unions at Mesaba should just walk out, and move on.

The Unions are trying to put out a fire using styrofoam cups, but NWA is right next to them with a firehose connected to a fuel truck.

By agreeing to a concessionary contract only FURTHER WEAKENS other unions at other companies. Walking out, thereby shutting down Mesaba for good will set a forceful example for companies battling their labor in the future.

Someone MUST fall on the sword.

what a bunch of crap, why do you not buy a real sword and fall on it. Mesaba is not a martyr for the rest of the alpa national.....its alpa national that needs to step up and not allow this crap to happen. end....nappy.....end your crap now

Really I have no idea, all I know is NWA went to Xj with an ask and if management can get it they will keep them around in current form from the date they actually get the ask. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT telling you to bend over and take it. I wouldn't factor in the possiblity of getting new flying if or when you have to vote on a TA.

The downfall of XJ only allows another company to pick up more business, the sad part being that it may very well be another ALPA carrier. It doesn't matter who only that they are willing. There is a commonality among of our airlines and the airlines which many complain about. Look at the bottom of the contract and you will see (hint: signature). How can a union allow such desparity among pay rates. This alllows competition among ourselves and is usefull to none of us. I call you my brother but may very well be the person who puts you and your family on the street ..... and for what? I often think that we spend too much time competing with each other and do not realize that we are losing everything! The fall of XJ is meaningless. YPF, you are too vague for my simple mind. Are you calling this a lose lose situation?

HH .Its not ALPA but other MEC's.Thats why many people think we need a national contract or at least a change in the by-laws to make ALPA National more responsible for contracts.2.00$ an hr over say 1500 pilots for 4 yrs and a company with pilots with less longevity is enough to make management jump.NWA 's Bk just hasten what may have happen at the end of XJ contract with NWA anyway as they for sure would have looked for a way to get the flying done cheaper..

1. When I read the ALPA mag I see them refering to us as Brothers and Sisters, yet no loyalty to each other what so ever exist. What happend to the blood is thicker than water mentality? 2. Prior to bankruptcy didn't NWA sign a 10 year agreement with XJ to fly the SAAB, AVRO, and CRJ? 3. What are viable solutions to these problems? Would a set rate among ALPA carriers work (with QOL being what is bargained for at the local MEC level)? I understand that each MEC bargains for their own contract but doesn't each contract have to met the approval of ALPA Nat (hence the signature on the contract)? Maybe a Monkey with a rubber stamp wasn't the greatest idea?

alpa....national unity.....hell, there are too many greedy ba$tards in alpa to make a national pay scale work, i wish it would happen, but unlikely, i would sign on for sure.

Oh and by the way i do not think any XJ pilot will take much of a cut, since we are all so pissed off. I think they should just furlough me before i sign no to any contract.......
