For those interested in getting on with AWAC this is the breakdown of the latest new hire class that just started etc. Seems avgerage minimums are coming down and 121 isn't necessary.

New hire Class of 19. Next class is scheduled for next month somewhere between 16-20 in that one.

Here is a summary of this class:
5 from ACA
2 from Piedmont
2 from Skyway
2 from Allegheny
1 from Lakes
1 from Big Sky
1 from Commut Air
1 from Mesaba
1 from Commutair
1 from Miami Valley Air part 135
1 from Maxair part 135
1 from Air Cargo Express part 135

Average total flight time in this class: 2103

Is there any chance if nobody walks my resume in?

I've been trying to get in, went to the Air Inc conference, emailed them a resume and have not heard a peep.

Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I know of a number of people who got interviews and job offers and they just mailed or emailed their resume to Kristi.

The company does value recommendation letters, but apparently it's not necessary anymore.

Keep trying...persistence usually pays off!!

I am one of those who just emailed it without any letters. They are diversifying thier hiring practices to slightly lower time because too many fo's have been leaving for ATA, Air Tran, etc. I guess too many people bailed during training because they had the PIC time to do so. That being said, most still seem to have prior 121 - all but three in my class and those guys had prior 135.

In the 8/18 class there was a guy from Lakes that bailed out in sim session #7 because he got an offer from ATA. That got everybody up in ATW pretty ****ed off and they said that they were going to change the hiring practices to lower time folks. I guess it must have cost them a bundle to train this guy that far and have him dump.

That also sort of explains the apparent moratorium on hiring Lakers again. Most Lakers have that all improtant turbine PIC, so they can go to FAL/ATA/Air Tran more easily than those without.

Remember when a typical class was 11 Lakes people and 1 Lear guy from a cargo outfit? I suppose that's no longer the case.

Like I said, keep on trying!!! They like persistence too.

Any clue for upgrade time with AWAC?

Lots of people ask that question and there are numerous posts on this board about that.

But for some reason it always seems to fall between 2 years and 4 years, in good times and bad; and it's been that way forever. Or so it seems.

Right now it's 2.5 to 3.5, which is very reasonable for a small company (associated with UAL), in a nice jet, in not the greatest bases, but who has good bases these days?

Look at Eagle...a jet captain there in LAX is probably like a 10-12 year employee.

What is the upgrade time at Skywest or Horizon? They have "good" (ie. western) bases.

It looks like there is finally some movement upward in the seniority list, so if you are looking for that PIC Jet time, this might be the place to be. By the time you upgrade and get a grand or so...maybe AA will be hiring again!!!

Guess we'll jusat have to wait and see.

Thanks BE99Chick!

By the way, are you cute and single? Had to ask!

Kev,

The upgrade time at AWAC is just a tad over three years. I got a call last week from my former sim partner who was one number jr to me and he got awarded a class for Jan which would be 3yrs 2mos.

WD.
