There is a rumor out there that Airtran might be thinking about looking for someone else to do the jet connect for them. Any truth to this? I am having a hard time thinking this is true. Fire away.

Is true. General opinion is that AirWis future with AirTran is limited. Close ATL, open IAD. Avrodriver? You're down there, what kind of good stuff you hearing?

I just talked to a couple of Whiskey guys, they have heard the same thing as above but with a slightly different twist. They are hearing that AirTran wants them to get a small number of 70 seat jets to try out, this number is less than the 20-30 that are needed to break even for AW. So AW is refusing the deal unless the number is upped to 20-30 and AT is steadfast looking at a much smaller number, so that is creating a rift between the two. If this is true look for them to outsource it out to an operater that already has 70 seats on property who ever that might be. Now please understand this is all 15th hand info.

According to our VP of Ops we are negotiating with AirTran for future flying, and should know more in the next couple of weeks. We may get up to 20 more RJs (50 seaters - 70 seaters are not being considered), or we may not get any. The company says operating only 10 aircraft is not economically viable, which means someone else would likely end up doing it.

I would assume these airplanes would end up repainted in United colors.

It was only a matter of time before someone had to be a SmartA$$! Are you a bitter Eagle Pilot???? How long is your contract again??

I heard a rumor Mesa put a bid in....just a rumor. I heard from some Airtran guys months ago that Mesa had put in a bid against us in the original bidding last year but some Ex-mesa now Airtran guys asked to turn them down. The 70 seat rumor is pretty heavy down here though but AWAC does'nt find it economical to do that.
IAD.....here we come.

Hey Tony Montana

don't hate the player hate the game.

Well, try this rumor on for size. I've heard that AT has put in a bid for a USAir Wholly owned.

Not a rumor that AirTran is looking at buying a piece of USAirways...the rumor is, which piece! I had heard they were bidding on the shuttle.

Mayday.

That's all we need in ATL, a bunch of Dash-8s to slow us down even more on final. Yeah, let's have another 300 flights a day clogging up the system. Oh, that's right, we will have another runway.....A Dash-8 runway.....

Bye Bye---General Lee;)

Yeah, there are already 19 ATRs doing that for you.

"Candler XXX, turn right to a heading of 090, and get the hell out of the way of all the jets. You're clogging up the arrivals."

Stifler's Mom,

It isn't that I dislike Dash-8 pilots, I just think ATL is screwed up already, and I know that Dash-8s are very slow on final. We are getting another runway and I guess they could have special slam dunk procedures for those guys. It amazes me the amount of traffic and the "short approach" 20 mile finals I get everyday there. Throwing in a large amount of Dash-8s could make it even more congested. No offense to the Dash-8 guys--though.

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

General,

No offense ever taken on my part.

99.99% of my posts are meant to be humorous in nature and I use these boards for entertainment value only.

I fly the ATR and have a great sense of humor when it comes to it's lack of speed and climb performance (oh I can't wait for the summer).

Although you should see the great views of larger aircraft when we are at 10,000 and some heavy jet overtakes us at 11,000. You can almost count the rivets on the undersides.

hey Eglpilot, you can be bitter, its okay. we all understand. 11 years is a long time...... and working with what seems like the biggest group of disgruntled pilots out there doesn't help either.

Of course he's disgruntled. After all, Chatauqua is... *ahem*...

"Stealing their flying."

That mindset always cracks me up. Gotta be *insert contract carrier here* "stealing" the flying, never the parent company deciding to farm out the flying. The way they'd have you believe it, TransStates (as a f'rinstance) forced American to let them fly those RJ's.

Never you mind eglpilot's comical arrogance that assumes everyone who doesn't fly there is crying in their Cheerios that they don't work for Eagle. I guess it never occurred to him that there are people (and I mean thousands of people) that don't want to work there, never wanted to work there, and are happy that they don't.
