Just a little video on how I mount camera's to my plane.

Cub,
Thanks for posting brother! I added this to my subreddit: Reddit - Dive into anything

I like the idea of keeping the GoPro powered. I only get 1.2 - 1.5 hours from my eternal Hero 12 before the battery is dead. Makes filming difficult when I go past 75nm from my home base.

I also had the mount shift on the Cessna's wing tie down mid-flight, even though I tightened it. I did some troubleshooting when I landed and think I found the problem.

Keep em coming,

Alex

I went with a similar concept for a tie down mount. . My tie down clamp went through a couple of iterations until it was good enough to handle the 180 KTAS of a Mooney Ovation

Excellent video @Cubonaut875. What do you use to create your videos? I really enjoy DaVinci Resolve. I started with Adobe Premier Pro.

@Cubonaut875 I saw the jacks you use to raise the tires in the video. Do you have a link to those? I too use bottle jacks to raise the tires but yours look better.

I use Apple I movie on my Mac mostly and also Fial cut pro on my Mac once in a while. I was thinking of trying DaVinci on my windows computer, but I have used I movie since I started You Tubing.

The Jacks are just for safety in case a tire goes flat. Since Cubcrafters had the incredible foresight to place the filler tubes to the outboard, if the tire goes flat and the tank is full, the fuel will pour out of the lower wing, even if the fuel selector is set to off as the tanks cross feed. If you have the selector to right or left you might only drain one tank onto the hangar floor. I place these jacks under the landing gear just in case the tire goes flat. Supercubs the filler tube is much more inboard and not as big a problem. To see the fuel filler placement on a Supercub, check out my most informative video on how to fuel a Piper Supercub from a few years ago.

Ahh, jack stands. I jack mine up while I'm away on a RV trip to keep the tires off the ground and hopefully improve longevity.

DaVinci Resolve is great, steep learning curve, but I love it. It works on both Windows and Mac but I prefer Windows as my NVidia RTX 4090 (in one machine) and 4080 Super in the other beat Mac's graphics performance based on my Mac's owned. Don't know about the M4's on the market now, but I primarily use Windows anyways. But whatever works for you is always best, I just admire what they've done with DR so I bought the Studio license, one time fee, all updates free to date.

For sure, I have a Mac Studio, a straight up Mac was not going to do it. It was having trouble with the new GoPro video encoding. Going forward, I think I am going to switch to DaVinci resolve and go with the Studio Licence. I have a lot of fun editing and making the videos.

I'm thinking of trying something similar with the lift rings on the top of my CarbonCub.

Thanks Alex for RePosting!!

Cub,

Great video. Maybe I missed it, but what size adel clamp did you use for the wing strut?

If you don’t want to DIY, the idea came from this guy.
Especially the Rockler clamp that made all the difference. I’ve used it on the strut ring of a 172 as well as underwing on an Ovation. No doubt it will work with most everything. And for more placement choices, there’s the RAM ball mount variation (I can do that with mine too but haven’t needed to. )
