The fly Antonovs out of Opa Locka, anyone know much about this outfit? Seems like they have some shady gov't deal that gave them a bunch of business....

there is nothing "shady" about commercial aviation. It's all black and white. Just don't be the guy that's a certificate holder for one of those Regan Iran/Contra dealios, or you'll see a lot of QOL in the back of your own Mercedes.

I believe they are staffed by international (ICAO) crews. I've heard them on the radio a while back in Long Beach, and the guy on there was English.

As for their 'shady gov't deal' I have no idea what you're talking about. Perhaps the Antonov is one of a few airplanes that can carry the load required by the job, without the contract going to the military???

Maybe shady gov't deal was the wrong phrase.... if you read some much older posts on here they mention a state department deal, and there were some tidbits about that same deal elsewhere on the net...
