Is there any info on what to study ahead of class. In training does flight safety use computer programs to assist. Just wondering what to be ready for.

I dont think there is anything out there you can buy, it's really not hard dude. Just relax and take it one day at a time. You'll see, this airplanes is no different than what i am sure you have been flying.

Can anyone working for Advantair tell me what are the downsides there? Of course- please include the perks too. I am flying the regionals t-props and I am looking for a solid growing company. How do you like the schedules? Does it run into 7+ days? How are the company gateway travels to/from?

Are the client lists growing? Thanks for the info. Its great to hear from the inside.

Cloud,

Overall, I like it at Avantair MUCH better than the regional I was flying for. I'd say that the downside of Avantair is that it's a growing company and still has it's share of growing pains, but it's getting better.

The schedule right now is 7.5 on and 6.5 off (translated 8/6). We are agressively hiring and training to move to a true 7/7 schedule. I'm not sure when that will happen but based on what I've heard from the instructors it should be relatively soon.

There are pretty strong rumors of growth on top of the Avanti deliveries that we're scheduled to get through 2010 and some of the owners have told me about making downpayments on larger jet aircraft but nothing is official until they announce it. Expect some kind of announcement at NBAA in Oct. The client list is growning. I average 2 demo flights every tour and the Avanti does a great job of selling itself.

I feel good about being here. I get treated a lot better than I did at the regional I was at.

Dilligaff

I 2nd what Dilligaff had to say. About the only thing I miss about my regional job are the flight benefits.

In four tours I have left a day early and was held over a day. In each case I was asked before it was done to me. Other then that it seems they try as hard as they can to get you home on time. Some times it just does not work out.

The Avanti IIs have been slow coming out and I have heard from a few owners that they have friends that are just waiting for a tail number to put on the paper work. On a few occasions the people who I have flown demo rides for say it’s a done deal but once again the new airframes are not on line yet.

Very big rumors about other airplanes coming on line.... it’s just a wait and see game.

I will have to say for me the Gateway travel has been great! On one week they even flew me to another gateway when I asked. It was cheaper but they still were able to help me out.

As I understand it its one week of vacation for everyone. Someone will correct me if I am wrong about this. A new hire is eligible after 6 months of employment.

As for studying.... Just don’t worry about it! If you can fly and have passed a 135 or 121 oral you should have little to no problem passing it with the amount of time you have to study
.

Good question, some rumors going around that they are trying to put money down for some jets. Could be BS though. Haven't noticed progress on the other hanger. Although I thought the St.Pete/Clearwater Aviation Authority were paying for the upgrades to that hanger, I may be wrong. As far as parting out a new plane, thats not anything out of the ordinary. But last time I passed though PIE only saw one airplane that looked like it was cannibalized, it wasn't a new plane although most of our planes are kind of new. I think the engine got cooked. Haven't heard anything about being cash only for parts, a scary thought. Pay check cleared yesterday so thats a good sign. I talked to a few people and was told about quite a few people were axed last week, streamlining maybe.?? Dont know what you mean by arrivals down 40%.

I think a pilot meeting is way overdue, no new is good news.......I hope.
