Training I thought was very formal. They do a pretty good job for what they have. If everything goes as planned than it should take you about 21 to 25 days of training. First week is Indoc, HR stuff, and Safety stuff like how to use a fire extinguisher, emergency exit. You know, typical stuff. Then you'll drive from St. Pete with your classmates in a rental car to West Palm and attend system ground school at flight safety. That'll be from monday to friday, then on saturday you'll attend a customer service class. You'll drive back on saturday from West palm to St. Pete to begin flight training. This is were things get interesting. You'll basically get paired up with someone and do flight training together. They'll train you in the airplane, which has its benefits and disadvantages. Benefits...you wont get any real V1 cuts, you'll get the "real" feel of the airplane unlike a sim, it was fun as heck too. Disadvantages, you cant get any real failures so alot of stuff the instructors have to explain to ya.
I dont know about you, but i personally have to see something to understand it complertly.

I got all my flight training done in about week. But my partner and i got kinda lucky. We were going to start flight training on monday and didnt do our first flight till wed day. We did our checkrides that saturday but obviously we did 2 flight training sessions in one day. The oral was really laid back. I had a great instructor, his initials are BM. Great guy, really taught me and partner a bunch of stuff about the airplane. Fun to fly with as well, and great personallyty. But either way all the instructors are there to really help you. They all have a great sense of humor, and want to see you pass. IOE is really more for the captains here but if they can fix you up with and OE captain on your first tour then they might do it.
I didnt get an IOE captain, but it was still ok. I have no problems flying the airplane, i was flying a lear before this soe this airplane to me is actually a bit slower. If you did corporate or charter before this job should be pretty easy for ya. if you did airline and nothing else it might take you some getting used to the fact that you have to help with bags and cleaning of the cabin and alot of customer service.

I am really enjoying it here, not only because I got based back home but b/c I think this company has a great future ahead. There are talks about flight attendants and I recently heard about some Larger corporate jets, made in brazil if you know what I mean. So this is the place to be I think if you havent made it to Southwest, Fed Ex or UPS. I like the kind of flying, getting closer to a 7 on 7 schedule instead of the 7.5 & 6.5. They keep you busy through out your whole tour so your week should go by pretty fast.
The training in the airplane is well, what can I say.

Typicall, stalls, maneuvers, know the limitations, systems. If you've been to other trainings like airlines, flight safety, simuflite or what have you. This is no different. The checkride is the same. Take off, maneuvers, ILS A/P on, go missed lose an engine, come back around for a SE ILS hand flown, get the engine back touch and go, and then well two non precision approaches. One GPS and one VOR "green needles" no FMS approach. Like I said, same ol checkride just different compamy and airplane. Hope this helps. Like I said, I like it here and I'm looking forward to the 7/7 schedule, quick upgrade and maybe new type of equipment.
PEACE!

what is the upgrade time?

I met a couple of guys that upgraded in 10 months, and one guy in 8 months. "With the amount of airplanes they are wanting to get delivered it wouldnt surprise me if upgrade is prior to your recurrent." I am quoating an instructor on this one.

Are they hard and fast on their minimums? I only have 700 multi and the last I saw they want 1000. I have over 3000 total and 600 turbine SIC, but I am a few hundred short of their multi requirements. I am sending out resumes to fractionals and I meet the mins for NetJets and FlexJet, but I want to go to Avantair due to upgrade and multible bases. Think I would be hireable there?

I am going to be completly honest with ya, I really dont know. I know they are really strict on the total time, but I figure if you're 300 hours short of their multi req but exceed the total time &/or turbine requirement you should be ok.
OOOOOHHH wait, I think you should be ok, I just remembered that I know two guy there that are ex-marine pilots with about 3500tt and like 200 multi, but they got hired b/c all their time is pretty much turbine/jet and military time. So I would assume that if you have good quality time but aslong as you exceed the Total time mins, then you should be ok.
Good luck

The only way to find out is to send in your resume!

I think most of what they look at is what type of time you have vs. amount. Unlike the past they are looking and hiring people who are ready to sit in the left seat from day one.

In addition at this time it is very hard to get hired w/o your ATP. As of recent the quality of the aplicants have been very high. I think in my class the average tt was 5000+ with the low guy at 2600 and the guy with the most time was 14,000+ if I recal. I believe that all of us had prior 121 or 135 PIC experience.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for the replies. I just got my ATP last week so that I could start applying. I have a years worth of 135 check hauling PIC and I am a 121 SIC now. I have sent the resumes so I will post if I hear back. I hope that the 2500 dollar investment in my ATP pays off.
