I know that Avantair operates P180s exclusively with the Phenom 100 VLJ to start in 2009-10. However, airlinepilotcentral claims that Avantair also operates one G100. Is that true? I know Avantair formerly operated a few Premier Jets that broke down constantly. If so, would the G100 be a backup aircraft? What's the deal? Or is it just a typo/mistake on the website?

By the way, how are the new ProLine 21 P180s integrating into the fleet? Any opinions from the Avantair guys who fly them? Much nicer? How many new P180s will be delivered this year?

We have a G100/Astra that we operate. It's my understanding that we use it as a backup aircraft when we are not flying the owner of that plane. I don't fly it so I don't have all the details. I've crossed paths with it a couple times while I'm out flying so I think they stay fairly busy with it.

As for the proline 21 - Love it!

I'm not sure what the delivery schedule is for the whole year, but word on the street is we should have 15 Avanti II on property by June and I believe we have 7 II's now.

Interesting. Are those pilots Avantair pilots who also fly the P180s or are they separate pilots who were hired by the original owner? Are these the same pilots who formerly flew the Premier Jets?

The P180 cabin is wider and a lot more comfy than the G100 cabin. I wonder if the share owners would be disappointed when the G100 shows up... Probably not on the longer trips requiring some speed.

They are Avantair pilots who bid to fly the Astra. I don't about all of the pilots, but at least three of them didn't fly the Premier.

As for owners liking or not liking the aircraft. From what the pilots have said its a mixed bag. Some of them want the room of the Piaggio. A few of them have been happy b/c I believe there is more baggage space in back. In addition they had just got done with some longer legs and the passengers did like the speed. Over all I think its making a good "replacement" when we are busy. I am sure its saving us some chareter costs as well.
