I was recently repremanded for something I posted on our company forum site, does anyone else think we need to have an independent forum site where we can be more stealth?

I guess flightinfo could be that place, but I don't like sharing all the dirty laundry with strangers.

This is B.S. when MGT calls you at home for sharing your opinion and chews you out!

Civil liberties

It's a sure bet that when you go to work, you leave your civil liberties at the door!

They just make up their own rules.

Does anyone else feel this way?

just post on the UPA web site when its up and running. Website link can be found in the SAPA forums.

You can't be "repremanded" if you have a union? Really? I can say or do anything I want and I'll never get in trouble? Wow!

Fly Safe:eek:

start a board on yahoo... no names and no info required. ALL PRIVATE. You can also set it up to only let in people you authorize so your dirty laundry will stay private. Just have any interested Skywest people email you for an invitation in.

eh homer, trust me, we are trying very hard to get a union on the property. UPA stands for Unified Pilot's Association. It's extremely difficult to unify the pilot's when we have so many domiciles. Our domiciles are spread out over PDX, FAT, SBP/SMF, SAN/CRQ, SMF, TUC, SLC, DEN, SBA, PSP, DFW, and soon to be ORD. It is MY OPINION that it is much easier to unify a group of pilots currently domiciled at one location such as Cincinnati. Comair pilots please don't be offended at the use of your main domicile. I'd like to thank one of your union reps in my quest for further knowledge, thanks 'Happy'. Collective attitutes are difficult to spread around the country but I believe that most pilots here are finally getting the message about the advantages of a union.
Happy flying

Where did you post?

inthegoo,

Did you post on the company owned and operated website SWOL using i-Share, or did you post on the site that BoNo runs, SkyWestforums.com?

If you posted on the Company owned website, well then you rolled the dice and yous tooks your chances.

If you posted on the forums which is privately owned by an individual that happens to work for SkyWest, well then you might have some case law on your side.

Sorry I can't quote you the names of the cases specifically but if I remember correctly, the decisions basically said that a company cannot discipline an employee for opinions expressed on a privately owned website as well as something to the effect that it is in effect spying on employees to monitor such sites and use that information against them.

Does anybody out there know what I am refering too or maybe offer a correction if I'm off course here?

OO,

I posted in the private bono site.

Yes we need representation,

I wanna see those SAPA bums out on their a$$e$!

down the tubes quick

The treatment of the pilot's lately due to "cost cutting" is bringing down the pilot group's morale very fast!

I'm sick of this industry using 9-11 as a reason to beat the crap out of its employees.

I can just see it, in 10 years some airline mgt retiree is going to write a tell all book from inside the industry on how they used 9-11 to make billions off all of us suckers!

"never read anything negative about skywest until fairly recently.
whats up?"

UPA, a proposed in house union, has to go for a vote in the next couple of months or start over essentially from scratch. The NMB gives you one year to get things together and take a vote. It's all part of a logical campaign.

I'm not a fan of a union at Skywest, but this is exactly the kind of post I would make if I were running the campaign. It's all about getting the pilots rallying against the man while totally glossing over the fact that this kind of thing can happen regardless of the organization of the labor.

Scott.

9/11 was only the start... if you'd like the real reason for your Cost-Cutting, just look into the dealings of UAL and its awarding of feeder flying. The Bain Consulting Group made darned sure that everybody who wants to wear UA colors gets to bend over and take it for a while to come. I am not bashing anyone other than the Mgmt at UA, but I do have to admire how *efficient* they have become at the expense of everyone else.

This whole UA process is one of the reasons we decided to get our Independence- because we did not want ot have UA continue to hack away at us. Please see if you can find any of the *confidential- mgmt only* materials and take a peek. The agreements proposed to ACA included UA exercising almost a complete operational control over our stations and personnel, and also the ability to reset rates on an annual basis OR whenever THEY feel like it.

Unfortunately, this will continue for a time to come... and it's not limited to UA. Just look over to the DAL side of the house and see how the sh*t is starting to snowball over at Comair and ASA over expansion and new flying in the DCI system. The only solution I see to this mess is to have a national pay/work-rules standard under which all *Affiliate Flying* will be conducted, thereby limiting the mainlines abilities to whipsaw the pilot groups of different carriers against each other. But there will always be the Ornstein's and Lorenzo's out there who'll be trying to beat the system some way or another.

Good luck in the morale dept, it's only going to get worse. Also remember that no one needs a union in the good times, but all good times must come to an end.

Tailwinds-
Pappy
