[FONT=Default Sans Serif,Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Did you know that your mailing (home?!) address is available for the world to see on the FAA website?

https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/airmeninquiry/

If you would like this information removed from public view, send an email using the following template:

To: [email protected]

Subject: Change Releasability Status

Body:

Please remove my personal address information from the FAA website.

Thank you

You could do this years ago but its good someone reposted it now. Actually why is any of our information made available? I don't think that just because we are pilots that the public has to know when we got our medical, what class and if you have any limitations or a special issue (isn't that some kind of HIPPA violation?).

I removed my information after I got calls from guys taking my N number then cross checking with the airmen data and finding a phone number in the phone book (they actually called my parents house because I have the same initials as my mother - I only have a cell and that number isn't listed).

2 callers wanted to know if I was interested in selling my plane and another wanted to know if I would rent it to him. One caller told me how he looked in it while it was on the ramp when I flew to another airport to go see a friend. Kind of scary. Now I'm glad I sprung for the hangar rent instead of a ramp tiedown and when I take it somewhere and leave it on the ramp I lock the door - something I've never done to a GA plane in the 20+ years I've been flying.

I know they can still see my address wrt to the n number on my plane but at least now they cannot (or will have a harder time) cross ref. to the address in the airmen database. I'm considering doing the incorporate in DE thing then registering the airplane there.

It's BS - N number and airmen info should not be public.

Thanks.

This link that makes it even easier to find you.

Either way, sent the email. We'll see if it works.

I just did it about 2 months ago after the 3rd call I spoke of above. Within 2 days my address was off the airmen database and they sent me back an email to confirm.

Does anyone know if you can have your n-number address removed without having to incorporate in DE or some other round about way?

Got this automated reply. Looks like additional benefit of not getting their spam.

Congress and the President in 2000 enacted the Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, and Section 715 allows the FAA to again make airmen’s addresses available to the general public.

If you choose to not have your address made available, you may not receive important aviation information from aviation associations and industry concerning safety, flying techniques, new products, legislative and regulatory positions, or aviation-related events. You will continue to receive information produced and mailed by the FAA.

Please be aware that information regarding your certificate(s) cannot be withheld from the public, such as the type certificate(s) you hold and the ratings on the certificate(s). The Privacy Act does not cover this information. However, your personal information such as date of birth, social security number, height, weight, etc. is covered by the Privacy Act and is not released to the public.

The FAA takes no responsibility for information on any private Internet web site.

**************************************************

I input a code into your airman record that indicates you don’t want to have your address made available to the general public.

Your address will be removed from the Active Airmen Database. The website is updated each federal work day at midnight and the downloadable file is updated monthly.

The Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, in addition to other statutory requirements, require us to make airmen CERTIFICATE information available to the public.

Before I removed my information, some outlet used my old CFI information and posted my name and location to be contacted for services. One, I dont instruct anymore and two, they have no right to pull this information and make it appear as though I'M THE ONE soliciting business. It appears they siphon info from the FAA database to build up their own aviation sites. Some of you might want to google your name along with the word "pilot" and see if this comes up as well.

i knew there was a good reason for not becoming a CFI :pimp:

You guys are making a BIG mistake! Once the pilot shortage kicks in, potential employers will use this public data to make cold calls to pilots with fantastic offers of employment! You will miss out! ; )

You should have written this in all caps and then sent it to every possible outlet of FI. It increases the drama factor considerably.
