Why are they the only flight schools that you have to be a US citizen to train with them? I am not a US citizen but I have a SSN and a green card, every other school I have spoken to said all I have to do is submit a training request on flightschoolcandidates.gov. Anyone know the reason why ATP wont let non US citizens train at their schools?

9/11 ring a bell?

I realize that obviously plays a part in it. I just found it interesting that out of all the big academies (DCA, RAA, FSA, etc.) that they are the only ones that dont allow non-US citizens.

I was told by Pinnicle that they dont hire green card holders or lawyers. Its some internal policy. I had a green card but since my parents were citizens i qualified for automatic citizenship but i has no idea. There went my lawsuit.I happened to be a citizen for the last 17 years without any knowledge of it.
As much as i hate all the trash on this site that tells green card people to go back to your country. Mexico doesnt even let you fly unless your a mexican born. a bunch of countries have weird rules protecting their own except the USA.

My guesses;

#1 I might be talking about a different flight schools here... If you're referring to "ATP" flight school in Jacksonville, FL, I believe the owner of that ATP flight school also is financially behind Phoenix East Aviation and some other flight schools. PEA is an extremely international school. The owner attempts to deliver a good flight training service to the entire area, and may see his schools as one large operation, each focusing on different market segments.

#2 As before mentioned, the beuracracy that comes with foreign students with immigration and TSA approval, requires someone at the school handling all the paperwork. Although the fees are paid by the student, it is still an expense for the school as they actually have to employ a person to manage the communication with the government.

#3 It is a risk if they should end up being the flight school that trained a foreign terrorist, although the responsibility is shared. Some people are more afraid of foreigners than others. Thats just the way it is after 9/11.

#4 Also, looking at atpflightschool.com its easy to see that most of the programs are tailored toward ratings and flight operations that are most usefull to american pilots/people with green card and who are elligible for whatever security checks the major airlines may require. So assuming that most of their customers are americans, it is a bad investment for them to involve themself with a few foreign students, because of the expenses mentioned in #2.

ATP's owner was never associated with any other flight schools. ATP started in the early 80's in Atlanta and moved to Jacksonville, FL in the mid 90's. The owner retired from FDX about 2 years ago and is running ATP full time.

F@uck atp dont worry about them go to another place, and when your ready for a job, you will probably be a citizen, and by the way the flightcandidate sh1t only took me 1 month and like usd230.

go home

Just clicked on ATP banner ad (kind of hard to miss on here). They want people to pay 45k for there airline pilot program and 25k for an airline transition. Apparently people are paying it. Does any one know how many? Are these people stupid, 45k for a 20k p/yr job. What is the world coming to.

Yeah same, here took me like 2 weeks to get it back, and really its very little to do for the flight school.
Yeah ******************** allatp, for not giving equal opportunity to the legal people (green card or citizen) to spend their hard earn dollars on their "get a license, easy check ride course".
So Allatps boss is a polish immigrant and now won’t let even a green card holder go to his school. There is also no non-us citizen working at this school. Is this legal? Discrimination against green card holders for work?

If you brain dead, and say those sorts of things, just shut the ******************** up and go spread your hate somewhere else.
