I'm looking for a source to help study for the ATP Written.

I know that there are test prep materials by King, Gleim, ASA, etc. These are all good resources for passing the test, but I am looking for something with a little more substance that gets into the regulations.

I understand that trying to find reason in an FAA regulation may be futile, but it helps me to understand.

Thanks,

Greg

At what point should one think of studying / taking the ATP?
1200 hours? 900 hours? 500 hours?

It's really according to how you make yourself study. Need 1,500 hours to do it.
How much time will you need to pass the knowledge test? Twice as much as you needed for Commercial or CFI. How do you learn? Video, books, Hands-on, Grease board, ???. Start now amassing that information. Get all your books ready to be studied? Tabs. Buy a new FAR/AIM, PTS, Oral Exam Guide, Test Question booklet of your choice. Casually, start getting everything ready for the start. Decide 121 or 135. Nobody knows which you choose. 135 is an easier study. Less W.& B. Questions. Consider a 2 day course at some quickie school like ALLATPS, (Check on line), if you have trouble studying. It's a LONG written, prepare well. Good Luck. You've still got to fly it. VERY GOOD INSTRUMENT WORK, KNOW THE NUMBERS OF WHAT YOU FLY, NO TOLERANCES. (Lrn2Fly)
