I'm going to FSI in a couple months to get a type in a Lear and also an ATP certificate. I understand the ATP checkride is the same as the type. Will the oral be the same also, or will there be more/other questions involved? Suggestions on ATP study material? Any help is greatly appreciated.

A few years back my co-pilot did this, and he got the same oral that I did. This was at Flight Safety Wichita.

Our former copilot did his Type/ATP @ FSI in the BE40 last year and it was a standard type ride oral.

I did it a few years ago at FSI. It is will be the no different from your normal type ride. After your done you will have a type rating and an ATP. No special ATP question that doesn't pertain to the orginal type.

I did my LRJET type a year ago this month at Bombardier DFW. The ATP was nothing more than the type ride other than checking another box on the 8710. Good luck.

Just have your Written exam results with you and check the box. The type ride is all to ATP standards regardless of what rating you have.

Are you going to the 14 day initial? That sux if you are.

The ATP PTS says that the only two areas required on the ATP oral are systems and performance for the airplane you're using for the checkride. Of course the ATP and the type rating standards are the same book, so that might have something to do with it. :D

yep, going to the 14 day initial. What's the problem with that?

I took my ATP and LR-JET type during a 4 day recurrent at Tuscon FSI. I was asked a couple ATP questions in the oral!!! that was in 05'.

If you stuy before you go, and I strongly suggest you do, you will do well, and probably find that by day 3 you will be bored to death.

one of my intructors actually went so deep into the systems, he was telling us what color the wires on the hydraulic pump should be.

very thurough, but could be covered in 7 days rather than 14, including the sim.

Gulfstream...Falcon 900/2000 are 3 weeks long. They just wanna make sure you know your sh#t.

I did my ATP/Type in BE400 in ICT in '04. No big deal at all. As a matter of fact, the crew in FSI will do all they can to make the learning easy on you. Memory Items/Limitations/Profiles. Get there with those mostly memorized and as long as you can handle a V1 cut you're golden. Good luck!

I did mine at Simuflight DFW in a Falcon 10.. No probs at all... Same checkride as a regular type rating.. Dont sweat it.. I took my lear type in the actual airplane. (LR-24D) That wasnt fun, it was in Florida and bumpy as h$ll. Good luck...

I plan on doing mine in the 900. I was going to do it beforehand but if your getting the type why waiste the money?

Did my ATP/Type in the CE-500 at Simuflite in April of 2006. No ATP questions, just aircraft systems questions, limitations, etc., etc. No suprises. Did the 4-day Upgrade Recurrent but I had two years of right seat underneath me in the 560 so no sweat.....plus its a citation! Good luck with the type.... There's no better feeling than walking out with a temp certificate that says ATP with a type rating or two on it!

I did the same things you are going to do. It is going to be the same as if you already had your ATP. As far as the Oral my examiner asked me some questions on the questions that I got wrong on ATP written. I think he only did that because not only did I do my First Type, ATP I alsio had the FAA sit in on my oral and my checkride, but just review what you got wrong. That add some pressure. Just know you limitations, memory ideas and profiles and you will be fine. You are also going to have to do a weight and balance problem but is is very start foward. Good luck and let us know how it went.
