Does anyone know if you got your ATP/Type at say the 10 year point, but then decided to stay in for a few more years or even say to retirement, how would potential corporations view this?

I know the ATP/Type would still be good but could that reflect poorly duirng the application/interview process?

I can't see when you got your ATP would matter at all. Just my $0.02.

They would not have any way to know. If they did I doubt they would care. Do you think they would?

I got my commercial right after UPT, then got my ATP at the 10 year point in a C-21A. My command thought it gave them a more rounded pilot and it certainly didn't hurt me with civilian employers after I left Andrews AFB.

Won't matter. Get it now, rather than later. When you need it later, you'll probably be scrambling to find a job, get moved/settled, etc... and you'll be stressed and out of time. Do it now when the pace is more leisurely.

Get it any time you can, at least you never have to take the written again.

Doesn't matter. Do it now at today's prices and while you're still flying and proficient. Later on you may get stuck in a non-flying job and get rusty.
