I have my ATP check ride next Friday and I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on what to expect in the oral? I've looked at the PTS and plan on hitting systems real hard as well as FAR/AIM material. I was just wonering what those of you who have been through it before would advise. Thanks in advance.

My ATP oral lasted about 10 minutes and concentrated exclusively on a prop fuel system. Airline type rating orals are about 10 times more difficult, at least from my experience.

Did mine with an FAA examiner from the Baton Rouge FSDO. He pulled out a copy of the ATP PTS and went down the categories in order, with emphasis on the items in the equipment examination and performance and limitation sections of section 1 - preflight preparation. He asked a couple of questions on each system, then we moved on. "Explain the brake system, what kind of oil does the engine use, explain the auto-feather system, etc.". Did my ride in a King Air 200. Good luck with yours.
