Did I read correct that an ATP can give instruction in the aircraft they are typed in? A pilot friend of mine on a Citation told me that he gave another pilot dual instruction in his jet since he was an ATP (but not a MEI). Does this fly? Can I ride ride seat in a single pilot jet and have the ATP sign me off so I can log the time?

Just questions....

Not quite.

FAR 61.167(b) says

==============================
An airline transport pilot may instruct -
... Other pilots in air transportation service in aircraft of the category, class, and type, as applicable, for which the airline transport pilot is rated and endorse the logbook or other training record of the person to whom training has been given;
==============================
All this does is authorize an ATP to teach other ATP candidates who are already working as pilots for an air transport operation., to "give flight instruction which may be logged by the recipient for the purpose of obtaining an airline transport pilot certificate, only if the recipient is engaged in air transportation service." [FAA Legal Opinion]

Under 121, a typed pilot can provide the ground and flight instruction... not sure about under other parts though...
