In need of some current, unbiased info on a month in the life of an Atlas pilot. I have an upcoming class date with Atlas for the Stanstead base. I have lots of questions but little answers. Does anyone ever break guarentee on the 200/400? First year is 50 hr/mo. can you beat it? On avg. how many days are spent away from home and in what time blocks...10,15,18 days away, etc... How is the commute to Europe, easy, hard, stressful? Any and all info would be appreciated as a decision is looming on giving current employer notice.

Kalitta Air is going to be inteviewing soon and you are basically based at home. That will be one tough commute to England. Give Kalitta a call and send them a resume. They will be interviewing for an upcoming September class and it sounds like you are qualified! They are looking for pilots like you.

If you have no family, no life, and don't want either, go ahead and work for that Standsted GCCS outfit or whatever they call it now.

Stay away

My best and sincere advice to you is to stay where you are and DO not make the move.

Like everyone is saying, No life, no family and you are on the road most of the time ON YOUR OWN. My buddy is with them and he can't wait to get another job.

Commuting to London is not the life you want. It is very stressful and it might takes four to five days to get back and forth, and you have five days at home.

Atlas is talking about moving the London base to Amsterdam sometime in the next few months...things are still not stable. Its all up to you. Best of luck.

Atlas

The first chief pilot and a FO quit Atlas and came to the Big G in 1995 in order to resume something that they could recognize as a life. Age not has not improved Atlas...

Thanks for the info...

As it turns out, my decision has been put off indefinitely. It seems a 400 is being returned by the current client company and the ground school class has been canceled. I guess it's all for the better as I have time to ponder whats next.

Thank god it did not happen to you after giving up your current job. Well, it happened to me back in 2002 and i was on the street and could not go back to my old job. Atlas is not stable. Watch out buddy.

Now all you have to do is call the CP at Kalitta and get into the September class!

Hello everybody,
I have an upcoming interview with Atlas and I have a few questions.

Anybody based in England cares to share some comments on the base ??
ex: Commute to the US, Time Off and any other pertinent information (Pay, crashpads etc..)
Also is there anybody flying for Atlas that could share anything about the company ?

I am trying to get a better idea of Atlas Air, in general, and of the London operation in particular?

Thank You

Stay away..stay away..stay away

My best friend work for them and he is not happy AT ALL. I used to live in London and i'll never GO BACK again. Its very expensive and you can't live on your salary.

I turned down and i'll DO IT again till they get their act together. More money and time off.

I'd stay on the B767 till things GETS better....ITS ALL UP TO YOU.
