Moving quickly to avoid serious Democratic opposition, House Transportation aviation subcommittee Chair Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.) yesterday filed an FAA conference report stripped of language that would allow the agency to privatize part of the air traffic control system.

Great now we are gonna get vectors via the lowest bider. Does this scare anyone or am I PARANOID?
Just because the Federal Government has agreat track record with Bidding out jobs ie: Bradley Fighting Vehicle, and subsidized Corproate farms.

Are you sure?

My first response to your post was in favor of keeping ATC the same, but then I reread the news blurb and I'm not sure it's saying what you think it's saying.

It says, "...striped of language to allow privatization..."

What do you think? I'd like to see ATC left alone as it's surely the best example in the world.

Right again.

There is a short list of things that should be done by government bodies, and ATC is one of them.

I interpreted the blurb the same way. Does anyone know the real story? I'm pretty busy today to go searching...

Get outta here

You gotta be sh!ttin' me.

<shiver>

TB and I agree on an issue of public administration? No way.

Of course, TB, you realize you're flirting with communism now. I mean, first it's ATC, and then it's health care and pretty soon those goddless commies are knocking on your door demanding your guns and daughters.

I bet you have a pony tail, dontcha? Come on. Admit it.:D

:D :D :D

No, but I DID have one when I was a democrat activist!

ATC is one of those things that falls into the category of government oversight, like broadcasting and military groups.

We're correct to keep government out of most other things, though. We have great ATC because it is public, and we have the most advanced medicines because those companies are private.

There is a time and a place for everything, and the real trick is to use good judgement and discernment in determining the role of government in America. If we are not careful we can become just another second or third rate socialist country.

I don't think anyone wants that, not even Ted Kennedy.

Sorry should have posted the whole thing, the Repub. don't want it messed with the Demo. want it privatized. I guess they wanna see it turn a profit?
