So do we log the ATC 710 as Flight Simulator or Flight Training Device?

Also, just to clarify none of that time gets added in to "Simulated Instrument" correct?

Just want to make sure I don't f*ck up this 8710 for the 3rd time. I thought I had it right the first time, but I spelled out "S-E-C-O-N-D" instead of "2nd" for Medical...then we flew again after the second one...so this is beginning to be a pain...

Thanks for the help!

PS
I'm assuming I should make a correction in the "Total Duration of Flight" column taking away the 15 hours in the ATC 170...correct or no?

Safest bet, log sim or ftd in sim only.

It does count toward the ifr cert if the ftd/sim is faa approved.

Whatever you do, do not put it in the tt column.

The ATC 710 is never a simulator but a flight training device.

See AC 120-40B--- Airplane Simulator Qualification
[All Simulators have a force cueing system (motion)]
6. DEFINITIONS.
a. Airplane Simulator is a full-size replica of a specific type or make, model, and series airplane cockpit, including the assemblage of equipment and computer programs necessary to represent the airplane in ground and flight operations, a visual system providing an out-of-the-cockpit view, and a force cuing system which provides cues at least equivalent to that of a three degrees-of-freedom motion system; and is in compliance with the minimum standards for Level A simulator.

See 120-45A Airplane Flight Training Device Qualification - for what level of flight training device you have. Or look at the FAA approval certificate for the specific device at your training facility.

Thanks again...

My main concerns were that my "double eye" and examiner both wanted to see it in the total time and instrument columns. I had a feeling there was no way it was instrument and no way it was total time (total flight time not total pilot time). I really wanted to get it out of there before I got stuck in an interview and someone asked me how stupid I was.

Really I guess I'd have to add another column to log the ATC710 properly, but I don't think P.O.S. looks good in the logbook :p.

Thanks again for the help guys...most appreciated!
