Anybody hear anything good at ATA about the ops plans? Still waiting to hear about a class.....Hopes are running out. I keep hearing the same old crap!

Have some patience will ya...

It was only 3 weeks ago that hiring was suspended. I'm sure it will resume but it may take awhile. If you can't stand the wait apply elsewhere. BTW ask some of the SWA and FEX poolies how long they have been in there.

Stay on top of the next ATA earnings announcement. I predict good things if it shows a decent profit. (Don't ask me what that is, I don't know). If it is another loss I expect more time in the pool. Just my opinion. May not work out that way.

It's more complicated than that, but the above is my best guess. Troops still in Iraq mean 767's coming. Good summer loads/profit may mean more 757s. If ATA thrives with all the smaller jets coming on the scene we will start hiring again. Not to mention the big growth at other LCCs. They may hurt our growth as well. The battle for the last passenger is bigger than ever and I hope our fleet will do the trick.

As a side note, I'm happy the carriers with furloughed folks are starting call backs. That may indicate a strengthening summer season. Or it may just mean a ton of people are retiring. It also means more competition. Everyone likes to throw extra capacity out there. We'll see who can earn money from it.

OK so they did go under.

Thanks for the update and verification.

Good luck.

I'm glad your name is not "oxygen". You're definitely short of it.

Dart, since the wait is so very painful, you should probably give up all together on ATA and free up a slot for someone excited to come here. Maby you can put your DC3 experience to use somewhere?

Thanks for being a good sport, Nitrogen. I know you were joking...I think.

It's just jokes. ;)

TExan..... I really dont need a smart A** comment!.. I have been waiting a really long time for this. I will stay as long as they want me to in the pool... I have nothing else better to do....

You on the other hand are at the airline flying boeings..I'm not..Being that I work for the other airline flying 7 legs everyday busting my butt and have the light taken from me...Sure it makes me alittle mad. I hear lots of rumers..i'm just trying to make since of them..You working for a major should understand where I'm coming from.

Thanks for the help anyway....but if you guys are going to be rude..dont answer my Thread!!

Have you flown a DC3?

JUST A RUMOR !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in training in PHX. One of my instructors passed through on a line flight. His rumor is that hiring will start again in june. Take this for what it's worth.....

I'm sorry your on the hook! Waiting for a good job is hard. Keep a positive attitude, it will be worth the wait.

I heard this from an ATA Capt...PURELY RUMOR (and I have no other supporting documentation)...

He said ATA is considering acquiring B757s and they may be looking to acquire North American...

Whether he's talking about just buying the planes or the whole company is anyone's guess...

Anyone else hear this???

We have heard the rumor too. Somone in the know said that ATA was in New York talking with NAA but nothing came of it.

NAA does not own it's airplanes. They do own some landing rights, slot and, gates. They are very profitable but not publicly traded so who knows. They have been paying profit sharing for many years.
They have 6 757s (all ETOPS), and 3 767s (all Etops). 2 or 3 777s coming later this year.

Actually, the 777s are not coming to NAA this year, but we may get an additional 757.
I've heard that NAA was talking with ATA about joining their team, since we were booted off of World's. Nothing came out of it though.

Chief Pilot hotline

Latest infoline says no hiring until Summer, at least. Much depends on the way the ops plan (and revenue) works out.

Wish it was better news.
