Could someone answer:

Do ATA 757's have satcom capability for ACARS?

Do the 737-800's have a PFD/ND or 'conventional' instrument layout on the LCD's.

Thanks...

ATA 757s do not all have ACARS. It is off of the VHF radios and not SATCOM.

The ATA 737s are all NG in both positions. They do have conventional instruments for standby between the LCDs.

ACARS is being installed into all the B757s... The project is proceeding even in these tough economic times. SATCOM-based ACARS would be useful with some of the flying these birds do for charters and the military.

As a bit of trivia, even the Saab fleet at ATA Connection (Chicago Express) is fully VHF ACARS equipped.
