Has anyone received a new application after attending the DFW Air Inc seminar?

I have an application on file since June '03 and Mike G. said that I would be getting a new application. I am getting a little nervous especially considering the latest news about not accepting additional resumes and I have not received the new application.

I spoke with the CP office today and they really did not have any information to share. However, she said that I should continue to update my current application thought the mail. I will call Monday and try to speak to Helga (sp?). She, apparently, is the one who sends out the applications.

Thanks.

I had a friend attend the DCA job fair, get an application as a result of turning in a resume at that job fair. Filled out and returned the application, along with the application fee. Then, a few months later, attempted to submit a resume along with a cover letter (through the mail), which clearly stated this was to update an application already on file. This resulted in him receiving another application in the mail with a request to fill it out and submit it along with another application fee. Then, a few months after that, he attended the job fair in ATL, spoke with the same representative (MG), explained the situation and gave him another resume to update his application already on file along with an LOR from an ATA pilot. The result of this was yet another application showing up in the mail with another request to fill it out and submit yet another application fee.

Makes you wonder. Does anyone actually bother to read what is sent? Or do they just see a resume, send out an application, and request a fee?

What I am looking for is: has anyone received an application as a result of attending the January 2004 DFW job fair?

Thanks in advance.

Kinda makes you wonder what they do with those "application fees". They obviously aren't used to improve the hiring departments.

Before you get your panties in a bunch, we need to figure out if updating is allowed.

The department is small and they are being flooded with apps. They also do a lot of work when interviews are in full swing (which they are).

I'll try to get the poop on the update thing. I don't think anyone at ATA wants you to pay multiple fees.

For those curious, our back office is waayy undermanned. When the new pilot contract took effect the total cost of employee compensation actually fell due to cuts at Indy.

Splert,

It took about 4 or 5 weeks from the time I talked with ATA at the Atl job fair until I got my app in the mail. I was wondering if they forgot but they are pobably just swamped.

I spoke to the CR office and they said that updating is still allowed if you have an application on file.

Panties?…I am always commando.

Thanks for the replies.

ATA and Dallas AIRINC

Splert -- I case you missed my 1/29/04 post to Helmsmen (different thread). He and I were trading notes about the Dallas AIRINC as well. Helmsmen and I have a deal to post if and when we get an application -- sounds like you are way in front of us and may stay that way. I doubt ATA will be accepting/sending new applications if they are that far behind. Here is that post:

Helmsmen & all -- just got the following email from ATA

"Due to the tremendous volume of resumes and applications ATA Airlines, Incorporated has received for pilot positions, we are no longer accepting new resumes. If you have already received an application, you may submit it for consideration.

Our hiring continues for 2004, so please routinely visit our web site, ata.com, for updates to this information.

Thank you for your interest in ATA and we wish you the best in your career endeavors."

No I don't know what that means for those of us who were promised applications in Dallas. Probably does not look good (or only the cream of the crop will get an application). For those looking forward to the April LAX AIRINC conference, my guess would be no ATA ......

I got my app 2 weeks after the ATL fair. I filled it out and got a post card 4 days later saying may app was "under active consideration". ATA guys...should I hold my breath over this?

I wouldn't hold my breath about anything in this industry. It's been over a year since I sent my app in and things have really changed. I never got a post card and got called for interview out of the blue. All I know is the more hours you have the better your chances.

When you send a resume in as an update, just send it in by iteslf and write the word "update" on the top! That way they will be sure to know it is an update and not a first-time receipt. The HR people are swamped and working real hard - the amount of resume's and applications coming in is massive right now!

I went to DFW in Jan. ATA said I would be sure to get an app. Haven't gotten one yet. Also had a friend of mine who is a senior 737 Capt. walk a resume in. No luck there either. Guess I don't have enough experience.....

Got the application in the mail today

From ATA and the Air Inc. Job Fair in Dallas, January. Just curious if others are starting to get them too or only selected few.
