Does anyone have positive, negative, information or feedback regarding ata? They seem to make a lot of promises about what happens to you after you graduate. First hand experiences preferred! I'm not looking for a comparison with Comair. Thanks!!

ATA

Slick,

Could you also send me some information about ATA? I'm interested in them also.. I have a lot of decision making to do and your input on ATA if you have some would be appreciated.

Chad

Most of the people I have met who completed the program did not get a job. The school told them to go back home and they will get a call. Don't be fooled by a good sales department.

Alright. If anyone wants straight forward information on ATA from a current Airstage Two student, send me a P.M. and I'll be happy to answer your questions.

I don't care to openly discuss ATA on this board, as all bridge type programs tend to get routlinely beat-up by the regular Flightinfo.com contributors. But I don't mind being straight forward with those of you who are genuinely interested in checking out ATA. ATA is not for eveyone and I'll try to give the information necessary for you to make an informed decision.

I would ask that you check out the web site first, (www.flyhere.com), and then hit me with specific questions. I think that would be most productive.

Say there slick....do you work for ATA? Why don't you put out your info out for public scrutiny? Afraid someone who's been in the industry for more than a week will raise the BS flag?

pilot shortage ? yea right

Most of these type of schools will have you believe that the pilot shortage is just around the corner. There like " Dont worry you will get a flying job easy "

If flight schools had there way they would be telling you there has been a pilot shortage since the wright brothers took 1st flight.

The only guarantee they should be giving you is that there is no guarantee of getting a Flight deck position. You take your chances like everyone else and hope for the best.

Dont be fooled by the B.S they give you, after all if they told you the truth, they would not be in business for very long.

New GLA and ATA Alliance

FYI...

I received an email from ATA yesteday that they reached an agreement with Great Lakes to hire their pilots!

They will be sending 10 graduates in the month of December and 20 per month starting in January.

A good buddy of mine went through ATA starting in their Phase II program to build multi time and was hired by ACA afterwards. After going through ACA's internship (which is approx 2 months with NO PAY), he is now in training on the CRJ! He was hired by ACA with 680TT/190Multi

i also have a buddy that goes to ata. he's in stage I, says that everything takes at least twice as long to do as jhey say, and that maybe 2 or three out of 10 grads actually get hired. now that's a little different then their 99% figure.

on another note, who wants to pay $30,000 for ata, put a year in with no pay, with living expenses, only to get hired by great lakes and fly the beautiful be-1900 for something like $18,000 a year?

anyone else want to put their 2 cents in on that one?

Yeah, right, pilot shortage, indeed

I hereby second any and all advice about not believing there is a pilot shortage.

There is no pilot shortage. For one thing, if you refuse to believe objective information about the tons of pilots on furloughs and the lack of hiring at most airlines, just wait 'til you start applying for jobs. Then, you'll learn first-hand about the pilot "shortage."

Enough of the Kit Darby pilot shortage and "seven-thousand pilots will be hired this year - 40-thousand pilots will be needed during the next ten years" palaver.
