I was wondering if someone could answer some questions about Astar. General quality of life stuff like, types of trips, do you get extended often, how difficult is it to commute, do they home base, will there be a merger with ABX, fleet plans, and anything else interesting. Some contract info would be appreciated too. Thank you very much.

And what happened to the DC-8 that flew into BFI. I saw an ABX 67 for a couple of days and now it's a ASTAR/DHL Airbus? I think. Just curious.

Thanks. I was pretty confused because it looked like a 767, smelled like a 767 and walked like a 767 but I knew/thought ASTAR didn't have 767's.

My 2 cents....

Types of trips: 1 leg per night (cvg-dtw) to elevendaytrips(cvg-jfk-europe-middle east and back). 28 day schedule: 7 on 7off the goal. Other than flying lines most lines are a bit morefragmented with at least two blocks of 5 off at minimum unless youwaive it for various types of reserve lines.

Difficulty of commute: CVG is easy, depending upon your stomach forairport terminals and TSA. ILN probably won't be as easy but both ABXand AStar have CASS systems and we're starting to ride reciproalcockpit jumpseats.

Home base: If you live 1.5 hours from ILN, yep. If not, nope.

Merger with ABX Air: extremely unlikely

Fleet plans: who knows -- 727s, DC8s forever. Don't know about A300s (Ihear about more; I hear about less). Maybe 737s, 757s, maybe DC10s Whoknows? It's possible we might buy someone else with a different fleetmix.

Hiring: 50-60 more this year; running classes now.
