I have an interview with ASTAR on thursday. Can anyone provide me with the latest gouge? I just found out tonight, needless to say, I'm in a crunch!! Thanks in advance for any help.....

The personnel interview went okay. I had a four-on-one with one line Captain, a Chief Pilot, the director of Standards and an HR type. They took turns asking questions, nothing too crazy. They were all very friendly and tried to make you feel welcome. That lasted about 45 minutes. The sim eval was straight forward. Takeoff, a few turns to get used to the sim (as if you can get used to a sim with three turns), radar vectors to intercept an airway, cleared direct a fix to hold, radar vectors to an ILS. The sim was very pitch sensitive, and I got off on my altitudes more than I would have liked.

They mentioned four more 727s by year's end, for a total of 29. Other than that, no other aircraft deliveries scheduled. They mentioned a 24-35% increase in freight volume, could be anywhere in that range, by year's end. As far as increased city-pairs, the interviewers didn't have a clue, that's all up to Mother DHL. They find out shortly before the line guys find out.

Overall a great experience. Very friendly people, very laid back. They didn't give a time frame when I'd hear back one way or the other. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it went well enough so I hear something positive.

Did you have any inside LORs or did you just get a call from sending in the resume?

Anybody else interview recently and have info to post?

Sure mate, practice the following sentences:

Basic German:
Grosses Bier, Kleines Bier, Noch Ein Mal, Dobbel Zimmer!

Advanced German:
Zwei Bier, Mein Freund Bezahlt!

Good luck regardless, and quite honesly I wouldn't use the above in an interview ;)

Euro,

Let's meet for one of those beers in Leipzig in '08! I'll buy the first round.

Did you hear back from Astar yet?

Yes, they offered me a June 10th class but I turned it down for a job at home.

Anybody have the breakdown from that class by chance? Just curious to see what slots were available....

Any new updates from the Astar interviews?

I'm going to apply within the next month and want to be sure all the ducks are in a row.

Thanks
