Anyone know anything about this operation in LaPorte TX? They have 172 and Warriors for $50 wet and $30 instruction rate. They also have a trailer to stay in for $150/week. I was thinking of heading down there and knocking out some cheap instruction.

From the look of those numbers, I would be extremely hesitant about going with this operation. If they can wetlease a 172 or a warrior for THAT cheap, they've got to be cutting some major corners (maintenance). Plus with 30 bucks for instruction, odds are the company is pocketing 20 or even 25 of that, so you'll have a CFI with you who's living in extreme poverty. He might even be in that trailer with you.

I'd fly it, in the day, over flat land unless it just won't run. It could just be owned by an A&P who can "make it" at that price. Maybe anyway.

At that price you're not really out any money if it is a bad experience. Besides, a real engine failure might be fun. Plenty if places to land out that way. If you are looking for best quality, I used to fly at West Houston Airport. For the quality of aircraft, they are the lowest price. Their chief CFI flew in WWII.
