Complaining Dispatchers

OK! since you experienced people in the dispatch world are afraid to open your mouth maybe you do need a union at your work place. This is not a site to bad mouth any organization but there are problems no matter where you work. This site is suppose to be for sharing information share the information good or bad people.

I think the reason why nobody has responded to you post is because there are very few ASA dispatchers on here.

Starbuck, I do not know what the conditions are at ASA today, but there is a lot of ASA talk in the regional's board. Someone may know more there.

I am glad to say ASA was my first job many years ago. A hold a soft spot in my heart for the place since it was my first Dispatch job to gain experience. I understand they have voted a union in since then, so the pay scale should have been fixed. That was my only problem when I was there. It was hard to live ATL with the old pay. It was the most fun place I worked too. The people I worked with were pretty cool and we used to hang out at go to get beers after work. And the office was nice, if that matters to you. I would rather have a nice home than a nice office, but that’s just me.

I see you are a 135 guy. Would you happen to be with the refueling wing out of TYS? That darn 135 would do touch and go’s every time I was doing touch and go’s when I was learning to fly. Learning to fly with 135 wake turb concerns, as we were both in the pattern gave me many sweaty palms. I would probably go "weeeeeee" now, but it made me very nervous when I was green. :0

"Just got off the phone with a friend in HR in St. George. At a meeting this morning they were advised to prepare for interviewing of Crew Support Personnel. They were told ASA Dispatchers and Scheduling dept people would be offered preferential interview slots.

He was told to plan early fall interviews for position openings after the new year. SkyWest will take over crew support functions in January '07.

Looks like the beginning of the end for the GO
."

Anyone dxrs from ASA care to comment?

Sounds like "somebody" in SkyW H.R. could lose their job over releasing this info if its true.

No doubt...

If this rumor is true, does that mean that the parent company is going to merge or eliminate one of the operating certificates? Or do you think they'll have the dxrs in the same office and just split it (ASA dxrs dispatch the a/c on the ASA certificate, SkyWest dxrs dispatcher the a/c on the SkyWest certificate)? Holy cow, what a fun office THAT would be!

I don't have the regs in front of me but I think that the a/c dxr has to be a direct, air carrier employee in order to 'spatch the metal on that carrier's certificate (at least under 121). Correct me if I'm wrong...

If I am not mistaken, all the carrier has to do is list who can dispatch in their FOM. It doesn't necessarily mean they work for the same company. I know of at least one company that does contract dispatch.
