Hey! for any ASA guys out there.....Do you know the best way, or have any tips on landing a flight ops internship at ASA. I have heard great things about the program, and would give my right leg to get in.

Thanks

Hard

The slots are normally negotiated through programs such as Embry Riddle. There are a couple of schools that offer the intern program. I dont know if you can apply directly to ASA without being in one of ASA's affiliated flight schools. Just call 404-766-1400 and tell the operator what you are looking for and she can direct you to the proper person. I could also be completely wrong on this so give her a call.;)

Tim47SIP is right on. Auburn Univ., Purdue, Riddle, and somewhere in Michigan have been the ones in the past that have participated in the internship programs. We seem to get new interns every few months, especially in the Chief Pilots office.

Ttry the phone number listed below, and possibly ask for human resources as they will probably know where to direct you to. Or just call the schools and check with them...hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I do attend one of the schools that you listed, and I seem to meet all of the requirments except 1. My GPA is slightly lower than a 3.0. Try taking business core here and you will know what I mean. Im pretty close, but its not likely to come up when I get into Calc, and Financilal Acct. But I have a lot of good flight experience though. 300 hrs tt, and 100 hrs Multi. Im hoping that will make the difference. Also....does anyone know what the interview is like? I heard from somone that it is Tech. But im not sure.

Thanks

I did the internship last summer. i cant even begin to describe how much I learned and how enjoyable it was. ASA is defiantely a great company to work for. I went through Riddle. At the time I had about 500tt & 100me. My Cum GPA was 2.9, however my gpa for my major (Aeronautical Science) was about 3.1 so that apparently was a magical number. I did have a pilot friend at ASA who helped me with a reccomendation.

I did everything from resume screening, to working for the chief pilots and thier wonderful secretaries, to CRJ ground school and even Delivery of a New jet. there was the usuall grunt work of coffee and copies, but the pilots and other personel were friendly and definately appreciated the interns. At the time we were paid minimum wage, but hey it was an internship. And dont even get me started on the travel benefits. Deep down inside thats what I miss most

When they are hiring they do hire a good amount of their interns. I unfortunately still had to finish school so now Im jsut keeping in touch and hoping for things to turn around. Email me if you have anymore questions. Good Luck

The interview was more about peronnality than tech stuff. The Inter-coordinator did the interview and went step by-step down my resume, asking me about the flying I had done and Why ASA. For the internship we had to also fill out the 5 Page ASA employment application to turn in with the packet of transcripts and stuff. He went over that amlost line by line. I would most definately get that typed up when you fill it out. Besides looking nicer, it makes it very easy to go through. Remeber this is just still an internship, not a 'bridge program' so the tech stuff is kept to a minimum. But descent conversation is defiantely needed. The flight skills will eventually prove themselves, they really just want to make sure they can stand you on a 3 or 4 day trip. No one wants a total dry personality or an arragant sh!t. So wear a suit (duh) and go in there relaxed and prepared. and of course ask some questions at the end of it. It is a great Company to work for and the internship is amazing
