Any word floating around about bases besides ATL? It would make life better for a few if we could get, at the least, domiciles at mtc. bases. Talked to the guys at BTR and that crew room they are working isn't for a base just for waiting on broken planes.

I heard a rumor about getting virtual bases at our MX bases, but that was a few months back and i'm not sure of the reliability of the source.

the latest rumor I heard was that we are getting 12 E170s to replace the ATRs... Supposedly "official", but no one claims the source.

that would make so much sense...
Stop touching yourself looking at those jets...you won't get paid more flying them anyway!

Latest from BH is that they are doing a demographic study of where the pilots & FA's live. If there are concentrations of those near where we overnight a good number of a/c it might make sense to place a mini-domicile there.

He also said they may make MCO a base. Even though it may not be a long term operation. His thinking (according to what he said) was that those living in FL & commuting to the ATL would probably rather drive to MCO for six months then commute to the ATL.

Who knows like everything else in aviation, I'll believe it after it happens.

Not a long term operation? ASA should just stop opening bases when we know up front it's only going to be temporary.

The way I see it, if they say it's temporary, it'll end up being permanent. 10 years from now ASA will still have a base in MCO if we open one there.

On the crew bus yesterday one of our chiefs said mgt is supposed to make a decision next week about the virtual/new/other bases. We shall see....

Thats a really great idea have virtual bases could also cut back on the fatigue of having to commute as much. Somebody is finally thinking. WOW

Speak for yourself! Let them open a base in FL. So many of us live there if it was just for a few months it would be a break from commuting. I spoke with CT and BH the other day and they said they are looking at it.

There are a lot more flights out of CVG starting in June for what that's worth.

Actually, a 70 seat jet pilot does make more than a 66 seat prop driver, you DUMAS.

Maybe we can get um the um Sukhoi SuperJet! I hear it's oodles faster seats more burns less gas and open a base in Kiev! We'll run 200s between LAX and Siberia with a tech stop in ANC!

Seriously though, more bases=more gooder, fingers crossed

What BD told us was they are running four computer programs one with just ATL as a hub one with ATL and MCO one with ATL, MCO and CVG and one with ATL CVG. He has a meeting about it on Monday to discuss the findings.

I wonder why they dont put out a poll for all three groups (flt ops, in flt, MTC) to see how many would like to go. I know lots would like to see MCO but how many of us want to go to CVG? I just dont know.

For some of us that have watched the upgrade come within a gnats whisker and then suddenly stop, I think a little sport bidding to CVG to take an quicker upgrade would be just fine. I don't mind hanging down by Newport for a couple months.
