When scheduling assigns ready reserve assignments, do they have to go by the bucket? I got assigned a ready reserve period this week and I'm at the bottom of my bucket with several CMF's at my time period in front of me. I called scheduling and asked how I got assigned it, and they told me that for ready reserve they could just give it to whomever they wanted. They were not restricted by the bucket. Is this true?

Yeah, I researched that before. The contract states buckets are to be used for "assignments". Under the current open time section it says you, as a reserve pilot, can be called to the airport for an assignment or for ready reserve. So the bucket doesn't apply to RRR. Suck it up and bring some movies to watch on your laptop.

However, it is worth 4.0 of credit per day, regardless if you fly or not. It's just as if you had one leg into ATL in the morning and were assigned RR the rest of the day. Your min day credit is now 4.0 instead of 3.75.

At least it has an actual value, which helps you go over guarantee. You don't get squat for credits while sitting at home.

I also feel like scheduling doesn't always follow the "bucket" rules. I say this because there has been a couple of times when pilots with my same reserve time got trips before I did, and I'm CMF, they weren't. We had the same exact number of days of availability, yet I was never called. Strange. Maybe I'm misreading the contract, or maybe scheduling is.

It's not as if I'm complaining about having to go do RRR, it's just that it f's up the bucket. In my case I'm on 5 day reserve and I got the RRR assigned on my second day. In open time there were several 4 day trips and I was in position to get one. However, because of this little RRR assignment, I'm now sitting at the airport all day instead of getting a 4 day trip with would help my credit much more. There are not any 3 day trips in open time currently, so I'll probably do nothing for the rest of my reserve period.

Personally I always try for RR or Airport Reserve so I can credit over 100!

April was 118 credit!!

WHEEEE!

If you want to fly, call them on it. I have. They'll change it without an issue if you're correct. A contract violation is just that...a violation.

I believe the ASA contract says you can only do 4 days of RR a month.

ASA its 6 per month. I have seen people close to that, if they make scheduling mad at them.

The contract specifically says Ready Reserve does not have to follow the bucket system.

They are supposed to be fixing this, but be aware that if you are assigned the RR and dont fly, or fly less than 4hrs, they are not applying the 4hr credit to you on the bucket list. You will not be listed in the bucket correctly based on credit. I have had to fight this with scheduling when assigned a trip, and I did not want to fly.

I have also talked to PD and SH about this, and they were supposed to fix the issue at the last implementation meeting.
