Heard this the other day. The ramp is short of people, and the ones that are left are tired of taking up the slack. They are supposedly in a slow-down operation. It sure seems that way on concourse D for sure. That's why I......

I didn't know it was possible for them to slow down!

It must be Delta's fault, according to BL, CT and SH everything that happens on the ramp is always their fault!

What, are they walking BACKWARDS? The PHL rampers remind me of that animal.., whats it called,. The SLOTH. Ever see that thing on TV? Takes a step forward., then Backward. Takes a step forr.. oops not yet back to starting position.., Ok now a step forward.. UG.

Rampers just suck. We are getting some pretty good pictures of them sleeping all over the ramp. In the Baggage carts., Fuel Trucks., Tugs (WHILE HOOKED UP TO AN AIRCRAFT READY TO PUSH : true story.) Wheel chairs, Jetways, In the cargo hold.., I could go on but im tired.

Send those pictures in to "ASA in Pictures!"

It is very simple, it's called Demographics. Pure and simple. No one else to hire at that pay.

You know, the more I think of it, it is hard to blame the rampers for their trials and tribulations. Yes, I know we don't have the brightest or hardest working bunch all the time, and I have actually seen some hustlers out there lately. The ramp problem is 100% a mismanagement problem. These guys just dont have the required tools out there.
Not enough rampers scheduled to man all the zones = mismanagement.
Not enough pushback tugs to push airplanes off the gate = mismanagement
Not enough GPU = mismanagement
Not enough air carts/huffers = mismanagement
Not enough parking spaces = mismanagement
Too many planes scheduled to arrive at same time= mismanagement
Poor quality of hired workers = mismanagement

It goes on and on. Skywest obviously must not care, either. They are letting this go on right now. If ASA's (mis)managers cannot get the job done - and they can't - then someone in Utah needs to get it fixed. Why arent they? Who knows. But, ASA has proven they cannot, and it is a problem from the top, starting with BL. Would Herb K, Dave Neelman at JBLUE, or Gordon Bethune at CO have let this go on? No freakin way!!!!! And, they would be out there - both helping, and observing and listening to fix their problem. Now, I'm not saying BL or CT out there pushing/parking planes and throwing bags is any solution. BUT, wouldnt their presence help. And wouldnt they get a handle on the problem by being out there??? And, who is the VP in charge of the ramp at ASA?? Why is he/she not held accountable, if not by BL then by Atkin, or even Delta? It makes no sense. Until the corporate philosophy and culture changes, ASA will never change or improve. It is time to call for a complete overhaul!

Sorry, I don't buy that. Its a reflection of leadership, or lack of, on the ramp. Money is not as big a motivater as you think. Loook at the difference in service between Wendys and Popeyes.

I've had the EXACT same service at Wendy's and Popeye's. Both were just like the ramp workers... horrible. There is definitely a different demographic in Atlanta. They're not going to find the quality of workers in South Atlanta as they are in Northern Kentucky part of Cincinnati. Not for the same price, anyways.

Brian LaLiar was at one point, but he got promoted for the fine job he did running the ramp. Oh, that's why I VOTED IN FAVOR!

Can't be there as they're too busy meeting with those damn pilots at their kool-aid shows trying to sell us without giving us the facts to back up what they're saying. You know, they really think we're ignorant and all. That's why I VOTED IN FAVOR!

also...

managers on golf course instead of at work...mismanagement

managers after a quick killing on stock options instead of being on for the long-haul......mismanagement

managers not trained in management.....mismanagement

I can't believe Delta allows this place to paint its name on the airplanes! They are making a pretty dumb move by not demanding wholesale changes, or shutting this place down.

Delta customers are fed up with ASA. Whenever I mention I work for "ASA" to someone, they make a face. They ain't fooled.

Try concourse E. We took an hour delay the other day while passengers sat on board and their bags sat on the ramp. We also took a 30 minute delay waiting to park in an open space while the rampers gawked at us, but did not marshal us in.

VOTED IN FAVOR.

You raeding this JA? One of you SKYW people ought to tell JA that ASA is melting down.

Not suprised...took at 50 minute delay last week trying to get out of the gate. Three rampers were working three aircraft at once.

We made our customary PA appologizing to the passengers for our company's inability to get them to their destination in a timely manner.

I am starting to believe that SKW wants ASA to fail, because this stuff has been going on for a very long time. I have flown through SLC and CVG and those hubs are not even close to the mess that ATL is.

I wish the people from St. George would come fix this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

managments response would be " we know there are issues on the ramp, but most are out of our control. We are working hard to remedy the problems but it takes time."

Whatever!!!

One solution would be to take the calling of times out of the gate's hands. Here's one scenario that happens over and over, the gate gets everybody on board, paperwork handed out, door closes and gate agent goes inside and calls the flight out.

The Gate Keeper program now believes that this flight has been gate cleared and is on to it's destination, and this gate is given to an arriving aircraft.

In the meantime, what is really happening is that although the above may be true, the bags haven't been loaded and the crew is still waiting for fuel. Now the gate is tied up, and two aircraft are delayed, one trying to leave, and one trying to park.

But all management gets is, the aircraft left ontime and we are unaware of any problems on the ATL ramp.

:laugh:All I can do is LAUGH!!! JA must WANT to lose his 425 million dollar investment! This place is going down in a HUGE BALL OF FIRE!!! Hope Delta and Skywst have A LOT more money somewhere, because they are about to lose a HUGE AMOUNT of customers/money! Good Luck with THAT JA!

Or, they want to add 4 more bags! Happens all the time after the door is closed and paperwork is handed out. So, I voted IN FAVOR!

Yeah idiot, when they published a specific timeline for all departures to try to fix this goatroap called the ATL ramp, and then they don't follow it at all, except when it suits them.

:rolleyes:ATR, don't sweat "Mesh@t" He is a POS that has nothing to do except try and stir up CRAP!! The best part.....he is an envious Biaaaatch!!!!
