Any comments on the class that took a day off from us?

Been hearing that management is using the class for a propaganda session. One fellow told me that a class stayed 'til 8pm! Uh, that one should be grieved if it did occur. (contract states no more than 8 hrs). And his class didn't have any breaks the last 3 hours! WTFO!

If they stayed until 8:00PM for any other reason then to pound on management, then they are a bunch of tools.

I remember a couple of instructors on the E-120 that LOVED to keep students (new hires) 12 hours, with minimal breaks. I can't stand these training morons that simply have to hear themselves talk, and talk, and talk.... Two of the worst offenders are still in the training dept.

We were supposed to be doing away with immediate action itmes,---in the last major revision they ADDED two?? The new forms for the FO's that are totally impractical (I sure an intern thought them up)....this list goes on.

Someone mentioned that there might training for international flying, specificlly for the 700 guys, especially with the Turks/Caicos run, who knows.

I can't imagine that one day of training can be all that meaningful. If it is a management propaganda session, they can expect some pretty swift and sure rebuttal.

I call BS on that one. Is the 8PM time a rumor or can anyone back it up with a date?

"...Swift and Sure Rebuttel"??? If you're so hot about this rumor, don't complain on this board ... go see a Chief Pilot and get it off your chest.

Maybe we'll need to stay until 8 to discuss concessions on the next contract to help cover about 700K worth of company expenses that just came up.

*8:00pm is not a rumor, many of the classes have gone on until at least 6:30-7. BUT, the reason is Skip and Fred and Drew and others have been making the rounds, showing up at @ 4-5 or so to preach and have Q@A sessions. Nobody HAS to stay that late.

So right about 5 everyone just got up and went home, right?

I asked Drew a simple question in the crew lounge a few months back and he talked for 5 minutes without answering the question. I think that boy has a future in politics if the airline thing doesn't work out.

Im leaving at 5. I'll get the rest of the story from the people who stay late!

My MEC speaks for me, I'm out at 5pm. Not staying for the propaganda session. Guys in ATL that haven't gone and DFW guys (Sept.), get questions ready on why we have only TA'd seven things in 24 months.

Ops class

The class was an absolute waste of time. There was some interesting highlights, but a lot of the class was stuff you already know. Bag weights changing, new CG wheels, etc. Plus security BS. I know the company is looking at saving cash, but this was ridiculous and a waste of money. I wonder if I can petition to at least have one of the 4 mandatory GS classes reduced to 3? GS is torturous having to do 4 days!! Anyway, Bedson did come in. He basically, in the short 20 min. I was there, was blaming labor for the excess costs of the airline. He said employee longevity equated to much higher operating costs than competitors. He used Jetblue as an example, cuz the longevity there is so low. He also said something to the fact that as long as the airline is in business less than 12 years, he could surely make a profit due to labor costs being lower. At 5:00 sharp, I was gone, but the majority of the class stayed, so you'll have to query them!!

So, according to Drew, we should fire everyone over 12 years so we can be more profitable?! Sounds reasonable????? What an insane thing to focus on! That is not going to change, so why focus on that. Lets change what we can over there at the G.O! ASA makes money, and can afford to share that with the employees that ARE ASA! If they can give 700K in bonuses, thay have the $$$ to share with the other employees! How are we supposed to believe they are so poor after giving Skip 700K? That is one man! It will take me 12-15 years to earn here what SB just got in 1 BONUS!!!! That says it all t me! WHERE IS OUR CONTRACT!

79%N1,

Bedson was saying also the reason USAir is hurting to so bad is cuz all the furloughed people are the ones with lower wage scales. Soooo, you have all the higher seniority people earning higher wages vs. lower seniority....Or something to that effect.

One highlight to the day was our instructor (Ledoux). He was awesome, no BS kind of guy and gave a lot of insight with personal experiences with the airline. He also talked a lot about the changes with the Concourses going on and where the airline is going technology wise. This was cool, but would have rather received an email or memo in my box than have to go in on a day off.

I did one better then go to a Chief Pilot.....I got up and walked OUT as the clock hit 8 hours (during an E-120 sim).....you training guys are NOT Gods among insects.
