They just gave it all to me...

You guys can thank me later. Or at least saying something nice at my funeral.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say management is squeezing the lines into exorbitantly high line divisors, making everyone work more, therefore fixing the open time issue.

At least that is what xjt is doing to us.

The way to have me help fix the opentime issue is to send a memo saying anything I pick up in opentime will go above guarantee. There is no chance that I'm going to work for free for 10 hours before I make a dime over 75.

Last night there were at least 5 overnights cancelled due to lack of crews!!!!!!

As of 9 am today, there is 1 reserve pilot, and he is on call at 1900! More of the same! Who is in charge around here????

I heard we've been proactive about hiring pilots to make sure we're adequately staffed...

It's hilarious that they're willing to take the $$ penalty (it's outrageous expensive from what I hear) of a cancelled flight...but then turn around and tell us we have to accept junk schedules and thin staffing as part of an overarching cost control strategy.

They were just "caught off guard" guys. Cut them some slack. It's only been like 2 years of under-staffing.

Well, not even half way through the month...at about 55 hours.

5 day, 1 day off (other day taken), then another 4 day.

Fun times

I'll finish today with 49 hrs. I fly every day I'm available. I got no real complaints...would rather stay busy I guess.

Sad part is they know exactly how many they can cancel and still meet the DCI numbers. We suck, we can't change it, we'll fly as professionally as possibly and let the wheels fall off the train. There's nothing we can do to fix the problems. 9 MELs on the jet yesterday. I hope we don't put one in the dirt and if we do (God Forbid), management will certainly throw the crew under the bus and find a way to mitigate their part in the pending lawsuit. If its a fatigue call to get out of an extension, fine. If its a sick mid trip, fine. Or simply fly the extension. Whatever. Anyway, back to my bourbon on my day off.......

Situation normal. Its the new airline industry trend. Operate everything on a shoestring budget. Everybody is cancelling flights due to lack of crew. Alaska, US Airways, United, CAL, Pinnacle, Comair list goes on...
