Been quite lately. Any ALPA people have any new news? Any unofficial meetings with Management? Anything?

I suggest you check with ASADrivel. She's all knowing about management matters, and their biggest backer on flightinfo!

Me......I VOTED IN FAVOR!

Update:
The union will tell you that the company is profitable and until they show up with the raise we deserve they can "pound sand"

The company will tell you that we need a cost neutral agreement to stay competative.

The truth is that the company is stalling so SKYW can clean the place out and make ASA buy new everything for the full transfer. While we still have 70's and I haven't been furloughed let me give everyone a pilot shout out:
1. I voted in favor
2. Burn it down
3. Full pay to the last day
4. Tired of it all? Grab a sign and walk in circles

Those are the new ones... How about these gems
1. SKYW isn't taking the 70's it is just hardball
2. Don't believe the 70's are going until you see one leave
3. Delta decides where flying is going... The 90's were always going to SLC.
4. (90's loop through ATL) Management is playing hardball

How about a little managment shout out:
1. We have to be cost neutral
2. We are getting ACARS (on the 70 so SKYW will be able to plug in with ease)
3. The profit isn't what it looks like
4. Unions are gay (unknown managment source)
5. We have done everything the union asked including a nicer scheduling and firing of lawyers we only came up short on compensation.

Flightinfo shout our:
1. ASADriver is managment and gay
2. Tomct is taking this way too seriously or as he would say "Take SH D!CK out of your mouth."
3. OhPlease is managment and gay
4. JoePilot: Will not be addressed except about missing some BS meetings minutes and having an unattractive girlfriend... something else about realestate.
5. ASARJman: We all hope to god he is on the Union pay roll because way too much of his time and energy is going into this board.

Ok, that's funny. Reminds me a little bit of the Idiot's Guide to Flightinfo video.....

Hey Crash, I like it! Thanks man for the plug. Really funny, and accurate, post!

VOTED IN FAVOR! because Crash says so.

So what's your point? Who's side are you on?

My thinking was that we could not strike until the NMB released us. That he could recess us indefinately.

I was just reading an email from our MEC. One line in the email caught my attention.

For those of you following along in the Railway Labor Act's Section 6
process, if either party were to reject binding arbitration, the mediator
would initiate a 30-day cooling-off period, which would lead to the
opportunity to strike.

Is this accurate? Am I misreading?

Can we just reject the NMB and asked to be released?

No Delay,
You're right but you're jumping the gun. The mediator has to first offer arbitration. Historically it is unlikely for BOTH parties to agree to arbitration. The mediator knows that by offering arbitration, 30 day cooling off and self-help are just around the corner. It is very rare for BOTH parties to agree to arbitration.

I think what the mediator is doing know is putting some pressure on ALPA to lower our standards. Making us wait it out some more. (yeah 4 years is long enough but...) If we have to wait it out long enough, we'll come down. That's the way the mediator sees it.

On the flip side. If he were to offer arbitration now, it would be a lot of pressure on the company because they know we'll walk if we don't get a fair contract. They won't agree to arbitration so they would have 30 days to settle something before we walk out and shut down the company. That's a lot of pressure and I think our pals in the grey rock won't handle it well.

Throw in the politics of it all and we're screwed for another 6 or 12 months at least. The last thing the National Labor Board wants to do is anything that will favor a union. In the meantime, expect the @Q#$%holes in the GO to keep screwing us over every which way they can, including transferring planes, closing bases and possibly furloughing pilots (something ASA hasn't done in its history). It's all part of the game and the only good news is that LaPuke will be out of a job before we take a concessionary contract.

Ladies and Gentlemen Welcome to Atlanta, we're sorry for the delay, please remain seated with your seatbelt fastened, we'll be parked in just a few moments.

No, I don't have the iPod/PA adapter and holding it up to the mike didn't work when I tried it. I let the Captain handle the PA's anyway, usually because they're more fired up about having to wait. The announcements are much more amusing that way.

No, that's not how it works.

The mediator has to declare an impasse, than make a "proffer" of binding arbitration. Then either party can refuse, which automatically releases us to a 30 day cooling off period. We can't do anything until we get the proffer.

So the mediator is in charge, huh? And this is the great aspect of being ALPA?

Railroad Labor Act. ALPA has no choice as it's the law. Favors the company more than labor though, and needs updated/changed for airlines.

VOTED IN FAVOR!

well I say it is time for the union and the company to part ways and see who wants a job more. I will not be a slave anymore so some ****************************** bag at the G.O. can have a million dollar a year job. I for one am looking at other options. This is getting so ridiculous it reminds me of grade school - except now peoples lives and families are affected. ALL BECAUSE OF GREED!!!
