Hey! for any ASA guys out there.....Do you know the best way, or have any tips on landing a flight ops internship at ASA. I have heard great things about the program, and would give my right leg to get in.

Thanks

I know that when I did my intership (not ASA), all have to be coordinated through your advisor at your school. Talk to them, and they will be able to point you in the right direction. I can't say that I know if ASA is still running their internship program, but I have known a few people that have gotten hired with under 500 hours just because of the internship.

It depends on what school you are going to. Atlanta takes interns from a few different schools, Dallas takes interns only from Embry-Riddle, Prescott, AZ campus. I was in Dallas and I started with the career advisor. They told me what I needed to do to get the ball rolling. Over all you need to interview with someone. For Dallas it will be one of the chief pilots. The interview is just like any interview you will get for a flying job. You need to know everything. (Kinda) Be prepared, it really is a 121 interview with out the sim ride.

ASA has a paid internship. Min wage, but at least its something. There is no guarantee of anything when you are done, but if you did your job and they like you, you will likely get an interview with ASA, when they are hiring again. But in the interview you are on your own.

Over all it’s a good experience. You do a lot of menial jobs and they are long hours but it was fun over all. I can’t speak for Atlanta, (other than that’s where the airplane training is) but Dallas was a blast. I’m still here and love my job.

Good luck,

The Bel
