Captain Shawn Kraus is an IAD Captain who was recently diagnosed with cancer in his jaw and has undergone a pretty invasive surgery. He is the father of 2 and his wife is a stay at home mother.

I found a website that someone built that is trying to raise support for him.

Done!!!

Easy to do. Gonna do a bit each week.

He is a good guy, and good father. He needs our help.

Well, Shawn always said he'd do anything to get out of work...but this may be going to far...even for him. Thanks for posting this. If I was still at asa, ALL of my sick time would be going to this noble cause. Since I can't do that, a financial donation will be on the way shortly.

Prayers.

The company limits the amount of sick time donation to 75 hours, and that was very quickly filled. Hopefully they just have to reset it on a month by month basis and people can still donate as needed.

His medical bills will be unbelievable.

Why? Doesn't he have medical insurance? Once he hits his out of pocket max for the year everything should be covered. I think thats roughly $6k depending on your plan.

Anyway if we can cover that and keep his sick bank replenished with donations he should be in good shape.

The link has been posted on the NJA message board as well, at least on the furloughed pilots side.

I heard today that he has to have a second surgery because they didn't get all the stuff the first time around.
