Hey asa'ers. On box 12 of my w2 it says " W 4425.00 "

In turbotax this pops up this after I submit my w2

---

Enter HSA Contributions
Atlantic Southeast Airlines
The Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions shown in box 12 of Your Form W-2 (the amount with code W) represent employer payments to your plan.

Enter the amount Atlantic Southeast Airlines contributed toward each of your HSA accounts. The total of these amounts must equal $4,425.

---

ASA didn't contribute anything more than the 1 or 2 grand they gave us as a bonus to sign up, so why does box 12 make it look like ASA paid my entire contribution?

I have two numbers in box 12. The top number, "D", is my 401k contribution before taxes and the other, "W", is my HSA contribution and does not include company contribution. Mine is correct. You might want to look at your 12-31-2010 paystub on crew records to verify all the numbers.

That is just like mine, but the descriptions of the boxes on the bottom of the asa w2 (and turbotax) say this: Take a look at w

R - Employer contributions to your Archer MSA. Report on Form 8853, Archer class=SpellEMSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts.

S - Employee salary reduction contributions under a section 408(p) SIMPLE (not included in box 1)

T - Adoption benefits (not included in box 1). You must complete Form 8839, Qualified Adoption Expenses, to compute any taxable and nontaxable amounts.

V - Income from exercise of class=SpellEnonstatutory stock option(s) (included in boxes 1, 3 (up to social security wage base), and 5)

W - Employer contributions to your Health Savings Account. Report on Form 8889, Health Savings Accounts ( class=SpellEHSAs ).

Y - Deferrals under a section 409A nonqualified deferred compensation plan.

Anything you put in pre-tax from your paycheck will show as employer contribution... It is correct, just worded confusing...

From IRS.gov:

You must report all employer contributions (including an employee's contributions through a cafeteria plan) to an HSA in box 12 of Form W-2 with code W.
