Interesting..... Our new Jepps have about 9 new cities. I cant remember all of them, but some are Worceter Ma (sp?), Twin Falls Id, Fargo, Portland, ..geez, Im drawing a blank... somebody else chime in here, there were about 5 more.

Casper, WY
Duluth, MN
Fargo, ND
Grand Junction, CO
Palm Springs, CA
Pocatello, ID
Portland, ME
Poughkeepsie, NY
Roswell, NM
St George, UT
Sioux Falls, SD
Twin Falls, ID

Like our Jepp binders aren't overflowing already.

Alternates? Probably so. However, what cities do we fly to now that we would use:

Casper, WY
Fargo, ND
Pocatello, ID
Sioux Falls, SD
Twin Falls, ID

for? Perhaps MSP for Fargo. The rest though are a ways away from anyplace we serve now. Even SLC is a decent hop from Idaho. These may be alternates, but I think they're also indicators of what's to come.

Had yet another stan ride today and the check airman said they were hearing we would get 34 of the 45 RFP jets.

Probably the same rumor everyone is hearing. I might believe it when I see it, but I don't think anyone is holding their breath.

Sounds like some future Montana flying.....maybe more from SLC...

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

Now that would be cool.....:D

As if our Jepps aren't overflowing enough as it is. We replaced 3 cities we got rid of (Athens, GA; Beaumont, TX; and Worchester, MA) and added quite a few. My personal favorite - Poughkepsie, NY. Take a very close look at the 10-9 for that one. Note the large boxed area that says "THIS AIRPORT IS NOT APPROVED FOR AIR CARRIER OPERATIONS".

Whoever orders our Jepps is a f*cking idiot.

Wow,

ASA has come a long way. I used to work there in 92-94 out of DFW on the Bandit and Brasilia. Same 11 cities. On a good 2 day, you could hit all of them. Only 1 "nomal" layover, that was College Station on a Sat. That was 13 hours. Other than that, everything was 8-9 hours, or a standup. On time change day, you didn't even get a hotel in ICT. It was less than 4 hours because of the time change, and mgmt. refused to get us rooms. I slept in the hotel lobby one year, and the next, the guys shut the airplane up and slept there. Some of the greatest guys I ever flew with, but was I ever glad to leave! Some of the ATL guys would get TDY'd to DFW and stay in the Drury (I think that was it). They got free happy hour for themselves and guests. That lasted about 2 weeks, they stopped letting eveyone in when around 100 pilots and FA's showed up as guests of the 10 people TDY'd!

Anyone on here been around that long? I still remember a few of the notorious CAP's and FO's. I won't say their names to protect the innocent. I'm preparing for (hopefully) yet another interview (it'll be my 3rd Major). One of the books I'm studying says to think back on your past jobs and rememberances to help you prepare. It's amazing what starts coming back. I still think of the breakfast buffet in Lawton and Chinese for lunch in San Angelo!

for the ASA guys, perhaps you could suggest an idea to Tech Pubs that Comair switched to last year. we yanked all the alternates out of the Jepps and instead they put a "brick" of charts in every airplane. it's sealed and updated every 56 days, although we still have to carry a few revisions in the back of our manuals.

saves the company some nice coin by having 150 bricks vs. complete alternate charts for 1800 pilots. gives you an extra inch or two of space in the binders too...

The main reason for not having a brick in the airplane is because it is a QOL improvement for the pilots. ASA is pretty deadset against doing anything that improves life. I'd be surprised if we don't have to negotiate the new "electronic flight bag" into the contract. In all seriousness, I think that the plan is to go paperless and skip the step of the brick.

I do think these are alternates though. Our closest alternate going into SLC is LAS. Most of these cities are closer and in another direction. We've been burned a few times this winter already.

Amen Brother! I've been thinking this for years.

Twin Falls and Pocatello are alternates for SLC. Both are about 30-45 minutes flying time from SLC. You might be able to pull enough people out of Pocatello to do a flight to Dallas but I doubt there would be enough pax coming out of Twin Falls.

We also took out Tuscaloosa, Al. Hmmm, I have flown several charters for UAL teams. Im quite certain we still have that contract, and will need those. Im sure the same idiot who ordered the new Jepps thought "we dont go to Tuscaloosa, why do need those plates?"

Keep an eye on the list of cities in the ops specs. That'll be the best clue, if any.
